Oh I do plan on doing an autocross event this year at least once or twice. Haven't decided on how I wanted to build this yet.
Thanks, I wasn't expecting to find one either. I have to admit this Velocity Red has grown on me big time.
Oh and does anyone have any recommended shops who know their stuff around mazdas and rotaries? I do plan on getting some more stuff done this year. I think the first week I had my car I already had ordered my intake and installed it.

I'm definitely interested in grabbing a spare trans since I wrecked my synchros learning home to drive stick. Let's hope its cheap enough I can afford it!

That being said, it's a ton of fun, and I'd have the full setup on right now if I didn't work in an environment where having a stupid loud car is heavily frowned upon. I miss the huge fireballs I used to be able to launch!

When all this snow happens, this is a good way to get your speed fix:

Club Logo
I got bored after work and decided to play around with making a club logo. What does everyone think? I want to clean up some of the edges, but if everyone likes it, I'm looking into getting decals and shirts printed up. I'd like to have something together early in the season.

yeah it was only 13 slots plus organizers, and we had to shovel snow off of the lot before we started :-)
I JUST missed out on FTD at the last second, but it was Danny Kao in his fully STX prepped FR-S that got me and even then it was by a few tenths
So there's the Autocrosser's Inc event the same day as the CDC opener and I'm currently signed up for the AI one. It's at Waldorf which isn't any closer for me but it is one of the more high speed lots that i need to practice on cause i keep getting my *** kicked.
Here's a vid Danny posted of his second quickest run, I think I still had him at this point:

Hey fellas, Just checking in. It seems its about time to change my front brakes on the RX8. Just double checked the service records from the previous owner and it seems they haven't been changed yet and I'm sitting at around 32.5k miles now.
Any one have any recommendations for front pads? Something that won't run down crazy fast, little beefy but not a terrible bite to them? I'm sure some of you autocross guys have some brands you prefer?
Also, just wondering if anyone else might be able to help me with another issue that has started recently. My auxiliary port that's in the little cubby area, right behind the cup holder has been acting up. It seems whenever I hook up my phone or ipod, none of the lyrics of my music plays, just the background music and backup vocals play. Has this ever been heard of before?

The vocals in most tracks do, indeed, occupy the "centre" channel - that is, the vocal signals are identical, and in phase, in the left and right channels.
Headphones have three connections: tip, ring and sleeve. Tip and ring connect to left and right channels (I forget which is which) and the sleeve is a common return (ground) for both channels.
If the sleeve gets disconnected while the tip and ring remain connected, the common return disappears. Both the earphones are still connected together via the wires connected to the sleeve, though. So the circuit ends up looking like two earphones connected in series, strung between the left and right channel outputs.
That means that the only signal available to drive the earphones is the difference between the left and right channels - and since the vocal signals are common to both, they get cancelled out.
You'll also notice that the stereo imaging is all wrong. The left and right earphones are now reproducing the same signal because they're wired together, but they're out of phase; some people still hear this as a "centre" channel of sorts, others hear bizarre spatial effects.
Most of the bass will have disappeared too, because bass, like vocals, is usually common to both channels.
The most likely cause for a missing sleeve connection is a broken solder joint where the headphone socket is fitted to the PC board. you should be able to fix it just by resoldering the socket connections.

I made a swivel mount to put on my car for autocross, the idea is the counterweight pulls the back end in the direction of the G-load so that the camera is pointing into the turn, it works pretty well at higher speeds, but the lower speed stuff it over-rotates a bit, I'm thinking of putting a fin on there to stabilize it
I finished it late at night so the video of the first test use is difficult to see:

As most of you guys know, I'd prefer to get my go fast on the cheap:
So I can essentially build myself a bad-*** suspension kit for less than a grand:
4ea Hypercoil 12B0300 best springs in the business and will lower the car about 1 inch and give natural frequencies of 1.79F and 1.79R which is good for autocross without throwing street-ability out of the window, $296 shipped
Koni Yellows, the best adjust ability this side of Penskes without the heinous price tag, so i'll be able to dial in an ideal ~65% critical damping, $525 shipped
FCM Bumpstop Kit (F:36mm/R:58mm) from Good Win Racing, the shorter stop up front will remove the cars tendency to under steer on hard transitions, $145 shipped
$966 all in, and I get basically the same thing as i would've gotten with a good quality coil-over kit, except for the ride height adjust ability, which I don't really feel like i need. A 1" drop wont cripple me over speed bumps and is totally street-able
Now how does this kickstarter thing work again? ;-)
Also if anyone wants me to investigate high quality yet inexpensive suspension solutions for them feel free to ask, I look at this stuff for fun
