I would've liked to have seen the car show, but drag racing doesn't really do anything for me these days, straight lines are for fast cars, road courses are for fast drivers
I will be autocrossing with CDC in Bowie this weekend on Saturday the 31st, my brother is coming out to have another go in my car also. He hasn't driven it since it was shod with all-season tires so it should be significantly different to him!
I hope to see some of you guys out there, especially if Bowie isn't too far for you. Even if only for a ride along.
Otherwise, see you in Frederick!

Hey! you can be bone stock AND an enthusiast! I just choose to modify myself to the highest level of performance BEFORE I modify my cars
btw, You should add to your sig what sort of rubber you have wrapped around those sweet RPF1's
*edit, I see that they are Potenzas I'm looking for what sort specifically...

No offense intended by that, whatsoever...I guess it was a poor choice of words. I like seeing an 8 that's been modified in some way, because it says a lot about it's owner, their taste, and occasionally more. I respect 8 owners in general (trust me, with my passion for my car, I expect other owners to feel the same), but an 8 that's modified in some way piques my interest a little more.
I'll have to respectfully disagree that a stock 8 is within the same ballpark as a modified one, as long as the compression isn't drastically different. With the chassis bracing I've done, suspension, wheel, and tire upgrades, my 8 has far a far higher handling limit than it did stock. When I'm finished, I'm expecting it to be a noticeably drastic difference. But that's my personal take on my car...I'm aiming for it to be a time attack car when I'm done modifying it, and won't be content until it's there.
Anywho....as for the tires on my RPF01s, they're 255/40-18 Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position, square setup on 18x9.5 +45mm RPF01s. I did some heavy research on what the absolute best performing high performance all seasons were on the market, as I'd be driving the car in cool temperatures, and ended up on these. Eventually here, I'd like to get another set of RPF01s with Dunlop Direzza ZIIs for more spirited summer driving, leaving the Bridgestones for fall/spring.

that's not a bad system you have if you plan to park it for the winter. I need to drive my 8 year round, so I use my Direzzas everyday that it's over 45F, with a set of firestone winterforce on Mazda6 wheels to tide me over for the winter.
You'll be very happy with the Direzzas when you get them, no other upgrade will so immediately and drastically increase the performance of the car. With that super wiiide wheel you could fit up to the 275/35/18 on there, and be unstoppable, that said though, I'd step down to the maximum for typical RX8 class 9" wheel width or you'll get pushed into the category with the big dogs (corvettes and 911s and such) When you get out there for time attack.
I'd love to swap cars with you at an autocross to feel the difference the mods make, let me know if you're interested I'd like to for an HPDE also since that's more what you're building to, but I tend to stay away from those until I'm willing to write the 8 off crashing into a tire barrier! I think my next change to the car(if I keep it) will be suspension, so I'd love to get a chance to sample a good one

It's not exactly the same but sort of along the same line of reason as with a motorcycle... A street bike can do almost anything (accelerate too the edge of hell, stop on a dime, corner like it's on rails) it's just a question of the skill of the rider, and how far he can push it before it kills him.

Would anyone be interested in getting a group together to go to Katie's Cars & Coffee one morning?
Katie's Cars & Coffee - Great Falls - #1 Cars & Coffee in the DMV
From what I understand, there tends to be a pretty good showing of exotics and other rare cars, plus all the other fun stuff you see at normal meets.
I've read some articles about it and scanned through some photo albums of past meets, and it seems like it really is worth the 6am hike to VA.

Car Show 7th of September.
Hey guys there is a car show on the 7th of September, I am attending. It starts at 9am-4pm @ Knightongale Farm. 3924 Solomon's Island Rd Harwood Md 20776.
15 dollars to enter you car. I am going to get my RX8 in thought it would be cool if some other 8 or 7 members did the same, since I normally don't see us at anything but Import shows.
Hope to see others out there!!
The info can be found here:

Eastern Shore
Is there anyone on here from MD eastern shore? I'd love to come out for some meets on the other side of the bridge, BUT, itd be nice to find some other people closer to home to roll out with! Seems to be no type of 8 scene in lower DE or eastern MD. I'm onto my 2nd 8, currently 4 years of owning 8's, and have never met someone who's into the car like I am.

I attended one Ocean City meet years ago, and even then it was tough to find people on the Eastern Shore. Even though I'm heading down there next week, I would probably be up for an OC or other resort-type meet before the weather gets too cold.

I used to show the Brabus in OC all the time. Haven't taken the RX8 yet.

I live about 10 minutes from Ocean City. There really isn't much of an automotive scene around here, but it would be a nice place to organize a meet. Cruisin' week is coming up soon, if anyone is coming down for that, I'd be more than happy to meet up, or anyone that comes here at anytime really. Also, I'd love to come out that way for some meets, just need to know when and where. And preferably have some type of contacts out that way, don't want to be the oddball rolling up with everyone wondering who the hell I am.
