lol. I know that noise. That's the noise mine made when I had my blown engine-bad coil combo. Just got the new engine in last month. New brakes & wheels are on order. Dan, cheers to spending the paychecks on the '8.

Question about Maryland State Inspection

Hello guys,

I was wondering if anyone can share some experience of Maryland State Inspection. I recently moved to MD with my 05 MT 8 and realized I do need to pass the inspection to get the car registered.

I did my some search work and learn know that there are some things that I must 'FIX' without doubt, like taking off tint, putting back the orange side markers and parking lights. But here are a few things I'm concerned about:

1) Would lowered suspension be a problem? --- I really hope not.
2) Color of interior (doors and dome) lights matters ?
3) A sticker on the very top part of windshield.

I've made an appointment with Congressional Mazda (Rockville) next week, but not sure if I should find another station somewhere else. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

^^uh oh, some shady inspection stickers...hahaha

1. as long as the body of the car isn't lower than the bottom lip of the wheels. but they may depend on wheels too.

2. interior lighting shouldn't be a problem...unless you have some crazy disco lighting going on inside.

3. sticker can be on the windshield, as long as it isn't obstructing the driver's view.

if you need to get an inspection sticker, i may also know someone with the "hook ups"

Deepsea, welcome to MD.

Did anyone take any pictures of the sushi meet last weekend? I've been wondering what the turnout looked like.

there were 17 cars at the meet, including Nuke0907 who came all the way from VA....

Dan, if you need new coils and want BHR. I dont know if there is wait but I have my kit that i havent put back on the car after finding out the dwell issue. I could get thoes to you as soon as you needed them and order another kit when I have time to mess with it again. They have 50 miles on them.

Hey ya'll! I'm moving to MD in less than 3 weeks! I'd appreciate any input/advice/whatever you can give me. Right now, I'm being stationed at Bolling...I'm planning on living in Waldorf area. Last time I drove in snow/slushcrap was 10 years ago in a POS dodge shadow. Now that i have a car I actually give a crap about, I could use advice on how ya'll take care of your babies in the elements? Also, where's a good place(s) to take my baby for maintenance etc....

Ok, that's all for now! thanks in advance!

Welcome to MD af7mn... we are a pretty friendly bunch and do a lot of meets so be sure to come out to one of them. Greg (Rotr8) has set up a nice monthly Sushi meet for the Tri-state area that has been getting pretty big. Our DE meet we had 35 RX-8s or so and around 50 people. I don't have a lot of advice in driving in slush, but snow tires make a big difference if we actually get enough snow to matter. As far as maintenance, you can check the "Good/Bad Mazda Dealerships" thread, but I do most maintenance myself, and get warranty work (not much of that left lol) done at Russell Mazda in Ellicott City, which is a hike for you. Any other questions you have just post em up.

Not extremely excited about buying snow tires lol. I'll have to be sure to come out for the meets....once i figure out how to NOT get lost. So far, all i've heard about the DC area is that i shouldnt use my turn signals and that if i will probably get into an accident in a year or less. This makes me a little nervous lol

^welcome to MD af7mn. The turn signal thing you heard is not true. The reason ppl get rearended a lot around here is because MDer's are too lazy to use their signals. Snow tires are up to you. I drive my 8 all winter long (it's my daily driver for now) and I've driven in some good snow (in PA which they are no good at clearing their roads). You just have to learn how to handle your car in those conditions. practice in a parking lot first, best with someone who has experience. Ask us whatever you like, or search for threads. Most of us are willing to help. If you are going to be in town, you should def join for the crab meet on July 25th. It would be a good chance to meet all the tri-state ppl...and Jersey.
