You are probably right, the liscence plate looked like a dealer tag.

I have to agree with Brian. Mine is a SS too, and I have the stainless chrome strakes and Axis Hiros with the polished lip, and it's damn near too shiny for my tastes. Chrome 20s would probably require sunglasses to look at.

The shiny bits look sexy at night, but it's almost blinding during the day. If I had to do it over, I'd probably have gone with a satin-type finish on the wheels.

Anybody have any good contacts with dealers? I'm going car shopping with my oldest Saturday. She totalled her Forester last Saturday. Thankfully nobody was hurt, but she needs new wheels. Less than $14k out the door, as she is just starting out.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Jeff,

I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who sells cars at Immke Honda on Sawmill Road. His name is Winslow Johnson (cell# 614-582-7467). I told him about your situation and he said that he would take care of you. He has been a friend of the family since 1992 when we bought our first car from him. He is currently the #3 Honda salesman in the Midwest. Doesn't surprise me because most car salesman don't normally become family friends. Anyway, he'll be working Sat., Sun. and Mon. and he said he would look forward to hearing from you.

Good Luck and glad to hear that your daughter is alright.

Thanks for the feedback guys. She is now the proud owner of a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. Not exactly my cup of tea, but at her price point, it was an excellent deal.

During the process I had an opportunity to drive a Honda Fit. I never really paid any attention to this car, but if anybody is looking at this type of vehicle, I would give this one a look. Honda has done a good job in extracting the most space out of what is really a very small car. The power from the tiny VTEC is remarkable for this low-end car.

In any case, Happy Holidays to all!

BTW, my wife ran into another VR owner the other day. She tried to recruit him to the clan. That would be good - everybody knows VR is the fastest!

I had a little spare time and put together a 2008 calendar from some pics of our past activities. Use it in good health and prosperity in the coming year.

Happy New Year!

Lit up CEL #7 last night. Of course it couldn't happen when I was off last week. Great - now I have to truck out to Fred to see what's what.

Just heard back from Chris @ Ricart. It turns out I'll be joining the new engine club! I'm really not surprised, as that's what it felt like when we last got together.

Thankfully, I am still under warranty, so I should be good to go. The bad news is I will have to drive this Ford 500 they gave me for at least another week. At least now I understand why they couldn't sell these things.

Guys,

I just put my sub, amp and box/ enclosure up for sale.

You can check it out here:

https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-parts-sale-wanted-44/f-s-jl-audio-12w3-jl-audio-250-1-line-converter-custom-box-trunk-enclosure-134732/

I'll reduce the price for you guys if anyone is interested. It will save me a nice chunk if I don't have to ship this thing.

You also have an advantage because you can come over and listen anytime you'd like.

Hey Success,

Is it a sealed enclosure box or is it just a shelf mounted setup with free flowing air under the sub?

If it is sealed what is the cubic feet of the enclosure and what is the depth in inches from the top outside of the box to the bottom inside of the enclosure?

It's a sealed enclosure.

I'm not sure of the exact deminsions though it was build to the specs of the 12w3 and it sits perfectly in the cubby hole in our trunk. Once in the cubby, it sits approximately 4 inches above the existing trunk floor.

Hey Success,

The reason I asked was, because I don't need the sub or amp. I need a 12" enclosure for a Rockford Fosgate Power Series Stage 2 Dual Voice Coil sub. These subs weigh about 40-45lbs. I was thinking of doing fiberglass up against the back seat with the amp in the cubby hole. I like what you did too, so now I'm a little torn.

How much does your box setup weigh?

Just confirmed that my engine has been ordered and that is a NEW engine - not a reman. I guess they gave that process up because the prisoners were not doing a very good job. There are stories of people going through 3 and 4 engines because the reman process was so flawed.

Oh well - 2 more days to receive the engine and at least 2 days to install. Guess that means I get to enjoy this wonderful Ford 500 for another weekend
