Cool, glad to hear it went well. How do you like having it installed? Any problems or complements?
I just got a notice from the IRS that I owe them an extra $5k from some back taxes. So that pretty much kills any extra toys for a bit.

ouch, that sucks. its too soon to really make a real judgment as the ecu needs some time to learn. however, it does feel smoother and seems to rev easier. its not louder, but at wot there is a different sound

On another note, finally able to schedule some time to take the car to the shop (rx-7 store) this weekend and install the Tein springs. I'll check out the Rev-i intake, which may be the next mod. I also need tires for a set of wheels coming in this spring. ;-)

Hey Everyone,
Long time no write. I just picked up the RP Short Shifter so I'm looking forward to getting it put in. I've decided on the ACT fly-wheel and the MS sport exhaust so next time we get together hopefully everything is installed for your veiwing pleasure. I would love to get an intake but I'm still teetering about FI so I don't want to buy one and have to turn right around and sell it. I still have my CZ 1.1 for sale if anyone wants to pick up 28 hp for cheap.
Hopefully I'll se you all soon,
AC
PS - Ra, You are going to love the look of your car with the S-Techs. Good choice. You should let me know you were going over there. I would have goined you.

$375 for CZ, cables and software.
You probably already know this but new is $600 + $75 for the cable & software plus shipping.
Great deal I think. No shipping cost and it's in your car tomorrow.

blame the snow on me!
I just picked up my Silver 8 on Saturday. Have you heard that grinding sound echoing throughout Central Ohio? That's me trying to shift! It's getting better each day - but the snow is going to make me park it for a day or two. Luckily , I sitll have my 325xi on hand. Driving a stick isn't as bad as I suspected - but man if getting the car going from a dead stop isn't tricky right now! All in time, right? Anyone - i was wondering what you Ohio drivers do about the front plates? I see a lot of nicer cars, 8's included, that go without the fornt Ohio plate. Is this safe? I know tehcnically it's needed, but if so many people do without, does that mean tickets are unlikely? Also, I do have to sell the BMW because my lease end fees are going to be huge - any advice on the best/cheapest way t osell a car - I've never done it before. Thanks!

I've never had front plates on since I got this car or any car for that matter and no issues with the law. That said, I'll probably get pulled over tonight for it.
Update on the spring install:
rx7store.net ended up stripping the lock nuts on my wheels because they tried to use an impact gun. They couldn't get the nuts off, so they gave up. I've never had issues taking it off and always torque it to spec. with a regular torque wrench. Wasted all of Saturday with a failed attempt at rx7store.net shop. Ended up going to discount tires to have the lock nuts removed. rx7store.net told me I could bring it back on Sunday, but conveniently no one answered the phone. Needless to say, I didn't have a good experience dealing with them. So I decided to take on the project myself. Went to autozone and rented a spring compressor, got the springs installed and it was a lot easier than I thought. Saved $200 on the install, but lost $30 on a set of locks, and $10 on the service at discount tires.

The other day I had to get my eight towed to Byers. I ran into the permanent stall problem because I didn't let the car warm up completely before shutting it off after I washed it.
They replaced the starter and put in "different" plugs. I had them do the 5000 mile service (rotate tires, change oil, etc) at the same time.
The tow was free (mazda roadside assistance) and the starter/plugs work was free, too. Paul at Byers was very helpful in getting my car fixed up and back on the road.
Big thumbs up for this particular experience with Byers Service department.

I have not yet gotten a ticket for being plateless with my 8 yet (2+ years).....I was unfortunate enough to get 2 tickets in one month in my Trans Am for a "registration violation"==NO FRONT PLATE.
At that time it was a $65 fine

I'm thinking about picking up a Mazda5 for the wife. We are expecting our first child in August and I thought it might be a cool transition vehicle. What to you guys think?

Those aren't bad looking at all. I can't believe I'm saying this, but honestly, the new minivans that are out looks good, especially the Honda Odysseys. I never thought the previous statement would ever come out of my mouth, maybe because I'm getting married in two weeks? I need a good sales pitch to my fiance for something other than an SUV (that's what she really wants). ;-)

congrats anthony, but i think if you trade in your 8 for a 5 youre required to give me all your mods and youll be banned from the board! come on, its got four seats! i will never own a minivan or suv as long as i have *********, there are plenty of large cars out there (m5, rs6) that will accomidate a family of five w/o compromise

Thanks guys but..........
...........Whooooa everybody, there isn't ANY talk about giving up my 8 for a Mazda5. No way in H-E-Double Hockey Sticks is that happening. She has a '96 Accord that we will be trading in for it, if in fact we go that route. We've have checked out over a dozen different cars and liked them all for their own reasons. I just happen to have seen a Mazda5 and thought it was a cool little car that, loaded, is only $22k.
Ra - We actually checked out and drove the Odessey and it is the ultimate family machine. Hands down the practicality, functionality and performance are far above my expectations for a MV.

Congrats Anthony. Like others have said, the 5 is a nice looking, practical transition vehicle, That being said, my wife drives a Honda Odyssy and while I have no desire to drive the van, it's a great machine. It's got loads of room, nice interior, smooth and powerful drive, and nice gadgets. I think it was in the mid 30k range though so, not sure if you want to spend that much.

I've also vowed never to get a minivan (and a suv if I can avoid it). Maybe you could try out the mazda 3 or 6 wagon version. I recently drove a 6 and a 3 and personally preferred the mazda 3. It was more fun for me to drive.
btw, congrats on soon being a dad.

i had a 3 as a rental while the 8 was in and was not impressed. i was even more disappointed in the ms6, a car i was really looking forward to driving. waaay too soft and a horrible clutch.
