Welcome to the club NOPR and Bothuwui. Talking about gas prices and how they've gone through the roof lately, what grade gas are you guys using? I've used Shell V-power 93 since the beginning but I've read a lot of threads lately about guys using 87 without any problems. Any thoughts??

I stick with 93 octane despite the price.

My last two fill-ups was a 50/50 mix of 93 and 89. Don't know about the long term effects, but I think MPG may have improved. Not really saving that much $$$ though.

Look at it this way: you're saving about $2.60 every fill-up assuming there's a $0.20 difference between 87 and 93. $0.20 x 13 gallons = $2.60. Is the short term savings worth the possibility of long term harm to the engine? Food for thought...

I just filled up my Expedition this morning at $3.09 a gallon!

......and from what I understand it's still going up to $4.50-$5.00 a gallon!

I'm starting to feel a little light headed.

I've been sticking with the V-Power over at Shell. The price is killing me. I at least go to www.columbusgasprices.com before I head out to fill up. Anyone else get the $2 off coupons from Shell last month? It's at least a nice addition. Plus my wife and I signed up for the Shell gas card which gives %5 off each gallon of gas, so right now that's 15 cents. Every bit helps. Time to buy a bicycle though...

Just thought I'd take this thread to the top! We've been pretty quiet lately! How's everyone? If you're like me, you're probably still down from this weekend's loss.

I have an appointment this Thursday to get the recall work done. Wish me luck.

Nice work getting us back to the top RA-Eight :D I'm getting the recall work done this Friday at MazdaDirect. I've recently made a new addition to my 8 due to all the laser being used here in Ohio. Here's the thread https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-interior-audio-electronics-24/blinder-m-20-laser-jammer-installed-71772/
I actually just recently got a ticket (laser) but I took it to court and won. If any of you guys ever need any research material to help you fight a laser speed ticket, I've done it all so give me holler.

I took mine into Byers yesterday and had the recall work done and they had it back to me the same day. Apparently the lower control arms and gas tank weren't affected and they didn't do anything with it. The brakes were squealing so they did replace the pads and turn the rotors which was done under a TSB. Unfortunately, they couldn't find the rattle in the sunroof but said to bring it back if it keeps bothering me. Anyone else with a sunroof experiencing a rattling when its vented?

I've noticed a rattle towards the passenger side dash. I think there's a TSB for an airbag rattle. I pointed some rattles out to Byers this morning when I dropped her off for the recalls, hopefully something will get fixed. Frank was very receptive.

I dropped mine off yesterday to get the recall work down. I also asked them to take a look at the squeeky breaks. They've been replaced once via the TSB and started to squeak again after only a few hundred miles. Of course the "couldn't reproduce the problem" so no change there. I'm thinking maybe these brakes need to be bedded in. So I might try that this weekend to see if that helps at all.

No problems with things rattling at this point.

BTW, I saw another Ti:Gray 8 the same as mine in the shop right before mine at Mazda Direct yesterday. It had the license plate Kimbie and looked to be someone with the last name of Patton. I'm assuming it's no one here.

I saw a Ti gray 8 on 670 and 315 a couple times driven by a middle aged guy. Tried to give him the thumbs up but he seemed totally oblivious to anything going on around him let alone another 8. Oh well, some people just don't get it...

LOL^^^

There were a slew of 8s waiting to be picked up at Byers this morning (including a TiGray). There was a Winning Blue being dropped off. I was too busy pointing out issues to really notice him to say hi. I felt bad. Welp! I'm off to pick her up now!

btw...who sold their B.Black w/ the X-Men spoiler?

Got the car back. No issues with the recalls, got the pads installed and latest PCM flash. What are we on now, "R" ? Can't tell any difference in performance except that at start up, it immediately idles low instead of racing to about 2K. Rattles seem to be fixed. My rear passenger door always had some sort of rattling noise when I close it. They took the panel off and tighten some things that were loose. Also, I'll be getting new headlights because the film/residue on the inside of the housing is getting very bad. I'm psyched about that.

I think that Byer's gave me the new flash when I got my oil changed last week. The reason I suspect this is that my gas mileage on my current tank is noticibly lower (2-3 mpg).

How do I figure out if they changed the flash?

Thanks
