Calling North DE, Philly, South NJ
****... found out last night I have to go to NY first thing Saturday morning. Trying to get out of it but not looking good right now. Sorry guys, I think I'm missing this one. I'll make sure to be at the next. If I can get out I'll let you know before sat.
Sad news folks. I just got back from a road trip down to Lynchburg, Va. and my 2008 40th AE RX8 had fuel pump problems and the engine just shut off four times while I was highway driving. I had this happen before on a long trip back from South Carolina a couple of months ago. That time it was the classic scenario, a pump shutdown with less than 1/4 tank of gas after a long continuous hot drive. I know from multiple forum threads here that the pump is on it's last legs. The stealership ( and my dealership is one of the best Mazda folks in the US) want to charge a ton to replace the pump with the same expensive oem pump (which also experiences shutoff in high-g hard left turns ) by dropping the fuel tank to get at the pump (a multiple hour job and big bucks) . Everyone else gets at the pump the easy and short time way by going through the top of the tank (accessed under the rear seat) .
I am nursing the RX8 now with low rpm demands on the fuel pump and short drives until I can get a better pump from BHR and have it put in by a local independent rotary wrench through the top of the tank. I no longer have the tools or proper work space to do this myself.
So unfortunately I have to cancel for tomorrow, the first time I have ever cancelled on any meet. I am not going to have the finances to do this repair until June. I was really looking forward to this weekend, but I will be in better shape for the next one.
BTW my Series 1 Rx8 has 52,000 miles on it. If your RX8 has 40,000 or more miles on it, it is time to start thinking of replacing this weak pump. The series 2 fuel pumps are significantly better and many have swapped to that, but it requires some modifications to fit to a series 1 setup.

So I guess we're down to:
1. IamFodi
2. tza0001
3. jjsrx8
4. Slick8
If anyone else wants to jump in, let me know! Also, feel free to bring friends/significant others. I just want to know the final headcount so I can call ahead at the restaurant.

Man I wanted to be there with you folks ! I will get my new fuel pump and I promise I will be at the next one. Thanks for planning this and I am so sorry the turnout wasn't so great. You are very appreciated for making the effort on this ! Don't give up on the rest of us,please.
I hope you guys had fun Saturday, sorry I missed it. I had to go to NY for Ink Masters (human canvas) casting, figured I may not ever get an invitation for something like that again. Did anyone take pics they can post of the meet-up? Hopefully we can get another one set up this summer... and I WILL be there this time!
