enjoy the car!
I've read the potenzas are only for summer driving. When it snows, the RX8 stays in the garage. My wife's vehicle is a toyota Rav with AWD. Great in the snow.

Be very happy that you have your 8. I'm still in the process of saving up and paying off my Grand Am before I get my 8, but from what I've read and seen its a fun car to have. Enjoy!

Thank you for setting them straight. Sooo....you've got a Veilside kit on yours? So you ever come down to my neck of the woods (DC area)? I'd love to see your car. They're rare enough, meaning the 05 Shinka's....even more rare to see them with a body kit.

Oops....welcome to the club Oldtimer.

Greetings OT, glad to see us older ones aren't letting the younger gen have all the fun.
Below is a txt file of some RX8 facts I gleaned off this site and another for my wife, while some of it has been changed over the life of the car, most is still true. Ask the powers that be for any updates here.

Oldtimer, back when I was looking to get my RX-8 I started this thread https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ghlight=geezer. If you have some time, it's a fun read for us 50+ers. You'd be surprised how many of us there are!!

Hi glassetcher. I read your thread and I can sympathize with you. Never had a sports car, the closest I came was when in the Navy, I had the opportunity to buy a 1957 Austin Healy for $1800 (this was back in 1964). I didn't have enough money so I wound up buying a 1947 Plymouth. Now that I am retired and still young to enjoy a sports car, I went for it with the blessings of my wife. It's a fantastic auto and it seems there camaraderie between other owners. Take care and Happy Motoring!

True ... according to the 2006 Mazda RX8 brochure, the Shinka package is available in Brilliant Black, Whitewater Pearl Mica, Galaxy Grey Mica, and Copper Red. The Copper Red is *only* available with the Shinka package, and not available any other way. However, the other three colors are available in the standard packages as well. Hope that makes sense.

Hmm, I guess it would be fair to say then that I am the *youngest* female with an 05 shinka with the RB kit...

From the "Did ya know" txt: You may need to drill a hole in the floor board under each side of the back seat.

There's probably an interesting story behind that one....Where can I find it?

lol. It's not the years that count; it's the miles.

Congrats oldtimer! Expect the taking it easy portion of the break in time to be torture.
