Werd.

Hey there is a thread in the competition forum about a sunroof guy who has headroom issues. He's probably gonna try the Brian fix because he has the automatic seats but he did mention he was gonna try to stretch out the springs. You might want to consider that for yours. Might be a better way to reduce the height of your seat w/o reducing the cushioning. Tho if it's less (more?) springy because they've been adjusted it might mean a bouncier feel. Would think bouncier (adjusting springs) would be better than harder (removing stuffing).

Not even sure if adjusting the springs would make you non-BS legal. Probably.

I say we just find some way to compress Johns spinal column to make him shorter. That way the car doesn't need dicked with at all.

Thanks Brian! It would solve sooo many issues for me.

I have been looking into getting new seat rails but it sounds like they don't fit the stock seat for some stupid reason. Why does it have to be such a PITA!?

No prob buddy.

And why not just go custom rails? Get some aluminum square tube and fab some up. Then you can put the mount anywhere you want.

I heard crappy weather after tonight. I'll check again. Supposed to snow on Monday for the Bills/Browns game.

Pretty sure you timed it right.

Ewww, snow.... I still have my summer tires on

Probably should go to the shed and dig out the all seasons and dismount the r-comps.

Time for 'the other' car

Yeah,

With it getting colder too, who's got time to let their rotaries spin-up to prevent oil froth? I'll be putting mine away soon in a heated garage. Just got my winter car out. At least w/ it I've got spare rims w/ snow tires already on.

Mick

'04 RX8 - Std. No mods, yet. (purchased Aug.03, night of the blackout)
'88 XR4 - Std. Lots of suspension mods, 3" downpipe off turbo w/ 2.5" hi-flow CAT back.

Registered in '05 and just piping up now? Isn't this the part where you say, 'Long time listener, First time caller'?

Welcome to the thread. You the guy with a white 8 who knows the Tuning Unlimited guys? Vaguely recall getting yelled at in their forum when we went into a tangent about a white 8 in Mansfield in the Cruise for Cops thread. Can't imagine there are THAT many 8's cruising the mean streets of Mansfield.

Because I don't trust myself enough to do the metal fab on it. :P

Maybe if I am nice enough I will take my drivers seat out and see if I can make a seat bracket for you.

Dunno. Tried to email him a few weeks back off the email on his card and it got bounced. Pretty sure his website was down as well.

Got my PM from Ray today so apparantly I'm getting my coils by next week. Jon - what did you say you were doing with plugs? Only $60 for the set with the coils. Pretty sure that is less than what it would be from Summit. And I might as well swap 'em out.

I already changed out my plugs.
Ray gave them to me early because mine were going bad (I was using the RX7 plugs).
Remember a couple months ago I got bored and decided to change them without taking the wheel off?
Anyway... Ray is sending me everything else. I'll be sending him the check tomorrow.

Since everything is "pre-assembled", I'm still going to check the wire lengths to make sure they match stock (to stay consistent).
I brought this up before when I reviewed a pic they had taken and noticed the lengths didn't match.
Someone from the first batch still received theirs with the wrong configuration:
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-aftermarket-performance-modifications-23/bhrs-ignition-system-offerings-145128/page23/
Read posts 560 & 561 (first pic on post 560 clearly shows the wrong configuration).

UPDATE: After looking at the 1st pic on post #782 the wire configuration appears to be correct.
Still better to be sure before you try to install it.

Well, I retract my statement about a nice weekend. My drive back from Buffalo yesterday took about 6 hours vs. the normal 3.

I would have not been able to move if I didn't change out the summer tires. Even so, in 5 inch deep slush on unsalted roads, even blizzaks aren't rubber miracles.

On a related note, traction control system appears to work pretty well.

I took a picture at a gas station in Painsville. 3 inches of pretty much solid ice frozen to the front of the car. Talk about baptism by fire!

So - am I the only one who is driving the 8 in the winter?

Gopher's probably driving his. I think all three Shinka's are taking on the roads since Ben just got his back from Cascade and Brian is whining about getting his comps off and winters on. Has Mat piped in? Not sure about Machiavelli.

Me, Jon, John, and Doc all put them away. And of course Doc counts double.

I will though this is one of those I wouldn't mind seeing you do first. Or at least having you aroudn when I change mine.

Well aware that it is supposed to be a very easy swap but coils/plugs are items I've never played with so it's always comforting to have someone standing nearby who's done it. Or even better to do it to someone else's (yours this time!) car. I haven't decided if I'm going to install it prior to Sebring or wait until the Spring to put them on. Kinda concerned if I eff up I won't know it until I'm on a track whereas if I just let it go with what I have on today I know I'll turn the crank and it'll be good to go.

If there's a warm enough spot to bring her out around the neighborhood in the next month or so I might try it.

I guess I'll get the plugs too. The price is hard to beat and I can always use a second set of plugs.

I don't mind if you watch me install it on mine, but I'm sure you wouldn't want to watch it in the freezing cold (remember, I don't have a garage)!
Plus it'll be quick since the plugs are already changed.
Just let me know when you plan on doing it and I'll come by and show you.

Bah. Cold doesn't bother me. I tailgate on the Lake Erie shore at sub-zero temps on Sundays and walk a mile from my parking garage to work downtown every workday. I can stand being outside for an hour working on a car in November.

I know you've got your crazy schedule so I doubt it'll work out but I'll let you know when I've got time to do it. Pretty sure I'll be able to swing it Thanksgiving weekend since there's no Buckeyes game that Saturday. Dependent of course on the coils arriving by then but BHR has always been incredibly fast with shipping.

I talked with Ray for an hour this morning and he mentioned that I should get mine next week.
I was #48 out of the 50 people in this wave, so you'll probably get yours before mine.
I'm off all next week, so anytime around then would be perfect.

Mine's being driven at the moment but come endof the month i am putting it away... hope it survives `til then!

Just bought a house (moving in Dec) so haven't had time to go car shopping. I figure i can spend as much money on a set of winter tires as i can a winter beater.

Here ya go:

Yeah. That's me driving home in a freakin' blizzard near Richfield. 77N was covered with a couple unplowed inches pretty much all the way from the west side of Akron until Brecksville. It was so bad I couldn't see more than 100ft.

I'd say Snow Tires in Mid-November are kinda a necessity.

I'm driving mine. I originally hadn't planned on it, but the girlfriend sold her Speed3 so she is without car. And since I am such a nice guy I am letting her use the Focus.

Thus leaving me with the 8.
