If you haven't gotten over to the "Banned from school parking lot + beauty of rx8" thread in the "RX-8 Discussion" section... its a good read.

Aside from ****** up my headliner and taking forever they've been cool, but c'mon....how do you leave 20+ whole hand grease prints and have that make it to the customer when you sell porsche, audis' and suburus' along with mazdas'. I wasn't aware so many had problems with the heat turning cold and vice versa! I just want it fixed before it snows much more.

the "Banned for parking..." thread was moved to the Lounge. I am surprised at the number of political pics on it though... i'd have had all the mods show up at my house, shoot my knees out, draw and quarter me then before i expired, be made to watch on my own computer screen as they hit the BAN button...

I just saw an RX-8 parked in my garage. No fliers handy but I left it a note. Pretty sure it was a Nordic Green Mica GT package but the freakin' light... Had a license plate of ARRIBA 2 and I think I've seen it around before. If he/she drives to the roof they'll see my car...

ya, i know. said my piece. it's gone.
What if Ben Franklin had just "let it go." You gotta fight this injustice! I'm behind you. I'll get banned too. I'll get banned all day. "Yes we can!"
umm... anyone want to help me with my brakes? I need to do the brakes and throw the snow tires on... I don't think my general summer tires were designed for sleet.
Also, just rolled over to 50k - anything I should be checking? (fluids changed -coolant, trans, diff at 25k-, wires and plugs upgraded at 25k,)
I don't know, I am just so busy i can't even think about it properly right now... weak.
40k or every 2 years is usually a good idea for tranny/diff changes. You might want to do a brake fluid swap while you change out your pads if you didn't change it with the rest of your fluids. Fluids usually good for 50-70k but if you're planning on doing events with it next year anyway it won't hurt to swap it out and it's cheap.
Otherwise I can't think of anything. I'd say something about your belts but I've never touched mine and have no idea when I should.

I might be able to help you with your pads if you aren't doing them this weekend. Pretty sure I'll have time the following weekend. Weather should be fine between today and then.

"Just like that?"
Yep, just like that... sorry Ben Franklin.
As for what to check, how're your coils and plugs and plug wires?
Also, you realize that getting a decent set of snow tires will cost you about as much as a reliable fwd-beater? just a thought. park the 8, drop the ins to a min since you wont be driving it. get basic coverage on the ****-mobile and call it a day!

yup...just call them up and let them know it will be garaged. All you have to do is call them before you take it out on the road again. So I will probably call on like Monday and then lift it as soon as spring hits in March.
Other than that... a simple once-over should be fine.
I wouldn't worry about replacing the belt, but you can check the tension because belts can stretch over time.
Plus... didn't you have an aftermarket pulley?
Those belts are different than the stock belts, so you would need to get it from that vendor.
You should be OK with fluids since you don't drive it aggressively (meaning you don't auto-x/track), but like Ryan said, you should swap if you do intend on tracking next year, up to you if you want to do it now or later.

Jon - very good point about the plugs. Knock it all out during the day when I have the car up in the air.
Also - are our wheel locks pretty much universal? I may have misplaced my special socket.

At least you can change the plugs without taking the tire off, but it makes it easier.

There are at least 10 different sets of wheel locks for variation. I had to buy another set because one of my locks went missing so I had to buy a new set of 4 since they won't sell them individually.
If it was the key you lost then don't worry they can match those to your pattern at the dealership and they aren't expensive.

Not sure if they stock them at the Tallmadge location (bastards didn't have Hawk brake pads), but its worth a shot.
If it wasn't for our Halloween party tonight, I would suggest doing it this weekend (if Summit has them locally).
Hope to see some of you guys later tonight.
Hmm, perhaps I will purchase the plugs tonight. Calling to summit of course? What type do I need to ask for? Which are the most durable/higher performers? (split fire!)
Snow tires are ready to go - brakes are getting worse by the hour.
Ryan - I may put it off until next weekend because I am supposed to move this weekend. But I don't know exactly what I'll be doing
Jon: I'm torn on if I'll be there or not - I have a ton of work to do with moving and the car malfunctioning, not to mention homework from classes (weak)
I really want to make it up there. I would still need a costume though too.

NGK Racing Spark Plugs from Summit are the same plugs you'll get from sparkplugs.com or from BHR.
They are the recommended plugs to use.
Summit's part numbers are:
NGK-6701 (NGK Part Number: RE9BT)
NGK-6700 (NGK Part Number: RE7CL)

You can always find out whether or not they have it in stock by going to the site, adding them to your cart, and then doing the checkout. They always ship from the closest site with them in stock so if it's in Tallmadge it'll tell you they have 'em in stock. If it's Arizona or another store you'll know Tallmadge is out. Easier then making the trip.
