Anyone notice there haven't been any Talladega Nights comments lately. Apparently it is better to be first of two, than last of, what, 6 (http://www.axtime.com/8/298)? Or 57 of 80(http://www.axtime.com/8/292/pax)? Huh?

So congratulations on finishing last!

Anyone know the difference between a pigeon and an investment banker?
A: A pigeon can still leave a deposit on a BMW!

Yeah... but you have to figure crap like this is going to happen if you actually drive the car. I'm not saying let it go, don't fix it and complain as it starts rusting, but (this is a real pet peeve of mine)
How many people do you know that have a pretty sweet car, and they just baby the hell out of the thing and never drive it?
Doc: you and I were talking about Porche owners at the Lizard - this is sort of the same idea. I understand not driving the 8 in the winter ( as it could be a safety hazard ) but to have your daily driver, and then look for any reason to not take it out. The dude I bought my 8 from was like that... He waxed it more than he drove it. Which is cool and all, but I am going to drive it until the wheels fall off - or someone steals it.
I guess my feeling is that each one of those dings is a reminder that you're actually enjoying your car. I understand the beater with a heater concept... but I spend roughly an hour in the car each day, and during that time, I'm very happy about it.
I guess the ratio of time in a nice daily driver (that will get beat up) vs. time in a fun car that is your weekend/summer toy doesn't make too much sense to me.
Keep in mind, I have no intentions of ever selling this car until it breaks to the point that fixing it is more than the car could ever be worth.
Plans for next weekend "fun" car... convertible to race doc in at autocross. mx-5? 91 rx7 wit tII conversion? S2000? 300zx? who knows; but the fun car will be worth less than the 8.
(Also, today is my day... i'm 2 monster energy drinks in
)

Unfortunately, there are Jealous AHoles out there who will destroy the nice things that somebody else have. My brother used to own a Porsche. It got keyed 3 times. He finally got rid of it because of the aggravation. When you have something nice and special, there will always be someone negative trying to tear it down.

Couple of you guys mentioned you would be interested in the Nintedo Wii Fit Board when you were at my house. I only have 5 left. They sell for 169 on my website, but I can let you have them for $138 (my cost). Let me know if you're interested. These are the last I have.
oh i dont intend to stop driving it at all. may get a beater for the winter but that's about it. I may consider getting the car repainted regardless, as the original owner jacked up the edges of the both front doors and trunk, coupled with this new scar and several other spots... we'll see. I;ve also heard it's possible to get a teflan or urethane sealant which will all but prevent **** like this from happening in the future (and with teflan you can also fry eggs in the summer, lol).
we'll see.
we'll see.
Doc - I'll take a Wii Fit Board - or as they say on these forums... ummm, dibs?
Yea, but something like a Porche or a BMW is going to come wit da' haterrz - Honestly, that is part of the reason I got the Mazda over a late 90s M3. People are impressed by our car's styling, not the badge.
I bet that rx8 with the Ferrari **** all glued to it gets keys also. Its on the forums here somewhere.
I would be careful getting a shinka repainted unless you go right to Mazda. I doubt they'll be able to match that black cherry very well.

i'll check into the touch up. thanks for the recommendation. If not, then yes i would probably either go to a dealer or buy the paint from a dealer and have it done elsewhere.
BTW Ryan, whats the turbo setup you mentioned alst get-together? Link on these forums to info?
here are two more pics i took on lunch (actually got to go today!)

From what I have been told by different places those scratches won't come out with a simple buff job. You will need to get it repainted...along with your hood, door and bumper.

My cars are due for oil changes, and getting ready to store for winter. Better to wait for Spring to do the oil change, or do I have to do it now? Any other tricks you guys do for storing? I've been told need to start the car every week or 2 just to keep battery charged. Anything else?
Steve, I'll bring the board to the Sushi thing if you're going to be there. Otherwise PM me and we'll get together with it.
