I may try to superglue those back on. Make sure you keep some handy. If you want a hand let me know.
I've got a free weekend July 19. (I'm sure that sounds silly, but when you have young kids, weekends are premium time.) I'll probably put them in then. Although, after hearing your story, not sure I want to .

Why did the pins break? I thought it was supposed to just "pop" out.

I'm up for that!

It's a very odd pin. I tried to pull it straight out but that broke it. It's different then most of the other pins throughout the car. At least from what I've seen taking apart the rear fender, doors, the shifter panel, and corner reflectors. I'll take a pic of the broken tab since I haven't superglued them back on yet. It might help removing the piece. Everything else just popped out but there are warnings about the tab for the mirror housing itself (the bolted part where the housing connects to the body of the car).

Beyond that if you get wire taps from RS only the insulation of the light itself was a problem. You can judge that yourself before putting it on. Maybe I just got crap parts or let it sit in my car affecting the glue or something.

Hey RK... did you reference the shop manual on how to remove the mirror?
Reading it shows that after you move the mirror inward (towards the car), you have to detach a pin while lifting up the inside of the mirror glass holder!
Then, when you pull out the glass holder, you detach another pin.

Yeah it it the entire mirror assembly/housing that has the breakable pin. You have to take it off in order to run the wire down through the housing into the door.

It's bolted on with 3 bolts so it's not like the pin is doing a whole heckuva lot of work. Actually that pic Devilboi posted of the 'tab' shows why it's such a biyatch to get out. And pushing in against the car while pushing up might manage it. I was just pulling it out straight (like every other tab on this car).

I don't know which you would do for a puddle light. I would think the whole assembly would have to drop off to make it easier to run wires and such...I could be wrong though.

Doc...Tony you comin on Sunday the 29th to Northfield?

Yeah... I forgot that he was installing that... I saw "outer mirror" and "tab" in his post... and thought he was trying to remove the mirror for some reason.
I've been up since 4pm yesterday... I'm going to bed now.

You have to take apart the entire mirror starting by removing the glass, removing the back of the mirror (painted), removing the two openings under the mirror, and then taking the entire mirror assembly off of the car. The only thing you don't touch is the existing wiring. It's all connected through a harness through the door into the upper interior speaker which you just disconnect.

It sounds like more of a pain then it was - sans my broken pins.

Oh and my exhaust is finally shipping to Jason (it's out of stock at Summit too so I don't hold it against him) so if it's on on Thursday I may have it installed on Friday. Still on the fence about doing my own intake install. Depends on what Jason charges.

If it isn't installed Friday I'll have it on next week.

I'm shooting for being at 71 and rt 18 at 9:15 and getting out of there by 9:30. I think it's about 60 minutes from there to Mid Ohio so we'd be there by 10:30.

There's a McDonalds just West of 71 that we can use. Whoevers there by 9:30 can caravan. Anyone later can just meet up at Mid-Ohio.

Nope. No Northfield for me. I'll be at Nelson Ledges on the 27th and that's enough of a beating on the car for one weekend. Plus I'm working all day on the 29th.

Mark- Sorry about the idiotic phone call yesterday. My pocket decided to dial your number at about 4pm. It said the call lasted about 1 minute and 4 seconds. It was probably just a bunch of rustling around and sreaming, but sorry nonetheless.

No, I wasn't making love with my clothes on. I was at Cedar Point.....I swear.

Cool

I took the plunge tonight and now my green will be rolling with 5w30 royal purple tomorrow along with idemutso premix. Will be very interest to see if there's any noticeable difference. Should at least see less soot out my tails.

Now if that $:@($/ borla gets shipped I can take a break from modding and get some qt on the track.

Hey Tom...How loud are the cars going to be at MidOhio? Am I going to need to bring muffs for my guest, or would she be ok with just normal ear plugs?
