drive all winter. Feel stupid come spring when all your cars still look nice and mine has been consumed by road salt.

For the record there was frost on my car this morning.
I apologized to her and made sure I didn't get over 5k rpm until well after the needle hit the imaginary warm mark.
Then I drove the **** out of her.

My variation on this theme is to wait for a break in the weather and get the car out onto I-71 for a Rt. 82 to Rt. 303 run two or three time a month. Maybe I was just lucky last year, but there were plenty of 40 + degree days with dry roads and it worked out really well. The car is in a heated garage the rest of the time.
Did you do the apple picking thing? We're right off 42, just down the hill and barely over the border from Bruns-tucky.
So... I guess my car can sense winter coming and is putting up a protest... And she plays dirty (which is normally how I like it, but in this case, it sucks!)
So first... the temp control **** came off in my hand... I guess I was too rough with it or something, but I don't think so.
Then... the next day - the heater quits heating. I assume the heater core is plugged up from sitting from the previous owner for a few winters... It worked fine all week until this morning.
Any of you have any ideas what else this could be w/o taking it in?

Yea, running temps are holding steady between 180-210 like normal. (thank sweet racing beat gauges)
I am assuming the core is plugged. No leaks... but only the slightest and faintest smell of antifreeze... one time. I am thinking its plugged... boo!

So why ask a question you already know the answer too?
New Question:
How do I unplug my heater core with out taking it in? Has anyone done this? Seen it done? Heard about being done. Saw it on Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe?
--This is honestly the first time I was ever made very upset by the car.

Thanks John - this looks pretty good - I'll trouble shoot it before my trip.
That is very interesting about the heater **** though... maybe i'll just use the fan control **** interchangeably until I can acquire a new ****.
The solution for this weekend will be gloves and a hat and testing my seat heater.

I have one you can borrow if you want to make the drive up.
Well, per searching deeper into the threads -
It is indeed a bad **** / loose solder connection in the board. So, with some manipulation of the switch assemble, I should be able to rig it where it works enough for the drive until I can pull it out and re-solder it (with a plasma torch)
Award goes to Machiavelli for making look at the **** instead of the whole heating system.
Thanks John, that link to the trouble shooting will be used later in my cars life for sure.
I love these forums... except when people use forum talk.
Heater **** = Epic Fail
Now, I'll go celebrate by getting a meal from Arby's for 5 bucks.

Or I can let you have one of my wife's cats really cheap. She doesn't like the car much, but she'll keep you warm and will stay firmly planted with all four sets of claws dug into you.

I have a phone number around here somewhere for a junk yard in ohio that supposedly has 8 parts. However...I think the best bet would be to hit up someone in the parts for sale thread that is parting out the car. I can't see very many people needing that ****.
Quit playing so hard with your ****.
Nelson's was great yesterday. Good weather and the track was in pretty good shape (as long as you had a decent suspension
). Not a lot of cars there so I could fly around the track. Took a session to remember the turns but by the final session I was making pretty good time right up to the point where I came out of the carousel, hit the gas, and nothing happened.
I'd read about the big turn affect under 1/4 of a tank before but that was the first time I'd had it happen to me. Something to do with our dual fuel tank design where one side can't get the gas so when the engine tries to go it's starved. Had enough left for normal driving to get back to the gas station but that'll be the last time I go out on a track with under half-a-tank.
Oh and there was a Viper race team there running their vipers, my buddies race prepped C4 vette, a pair of racing Z06s tho the latter, supercharged with 630whp, still wasn't running right, and a Volks GTi turbo'd with almost 450 whp. The vipers and the two vettes were running 1:13s around the track. Smoking.
