Ryan,

If you get a deal, buy enough for 2 cars. I'd like to put that in too. Sometimes can get a deal on higher quantity.

Email me.

Will do. Anyone else wants in the best I can find is on CDOC via Amazon. $10.50 a liter. Pretty sure 2 liters will do for a car. CDOC came up on alternate searches as well as a good place to get it.

Shipping starts around 8 then goes up ~$1 increments (9.50 for 2, $12 for 4, etc.). Apparantly it's based on weight.

I'll hold off on ordering until tonight or tomorrow morning.

Little or none. And actually even if you were autoXing your stock ride you wouldn't see much. Bleeding your brakes you should do but a full fluid swap isn't really necessary unless you are tracking your car or you run on significantly bigger tires than stock.

The biggest 'threat' that you have with brake fluid is that the OEM stuff can start to boil on track days. Usually HPDEs aren't going to go long enough or have people push their brakes hard enough but on hot summer days its gonna be pushing the OEM limit. If your fluid goes then so do your brakes and SOL is where you're at.

If you're like me and are already up over 30k and haven't changed your fluid plus you autoX and take it out for track days you're just asking for trouble. If your Joe Q Average Driver then bleeding and maybe adding some extra OEM fluid if you're low is all you need to do...

Frankly for $20 I'd be retarded if I didn't change mine.

-Sigh-

So the last couple days pulling into my POS parking garage I've gotten stuck with one car in front of me taking his sweet *** time and a car stuck to my rear bumper. Since they have a ridiculously huge incline leading up to the card machine I have to ride my clutch.

Anyway I noticed that there's a burnt rubber smell and it's quickly getting worse. Which means my clutch is probably burning or burned out. Either way I've gotta take a trip to a dealership to have it looked it.

I'll swap out my short shifter since that could at least be alleged to contribute but this will be my first trip to a dealership with mods. While it -shouldn't- matter and I don't really care if one dealership refuses to do the work as long as I can find one that can I want to make sure I avoid getting permanently flagged. After June my bumper-to-bumper expires anyway so I'll just have my transmission/engine/exhaust warranties left. The first two I'd like to be able to use (and the third if my Cat dies over the next year before I get a midpipe).

Was wondering if anyone who has done any work on their car has had any luck with dealerships? Pretty sure that is narrowed down to Tony and Jon. Maybe Beth. The only thing I know for sure is that I should avoid Bedford. And it sounds like Park in Wooster will be good too but I'd prefer to stay a little bit closer.

I've got Friday off so I'll probably try to get it in then. Want to see if I can test drive a Tribute while I'm there. Gotta trade in my beater in October unless gas drops another buck or so. 12 mpg is a little too much.

Oh and funny as hell this happens the week I was planning on changing my tranny/diff.

Ryan,

I'm having some warranty work done on Red Racer today by Westside Mazda over on Brookpark. I'll let you know how it goes. They just now picked it up. Gave me a free loaner car (which I didn't take) for the warranty repairs. That was cool.

Definitely avoid Bedford. I bought my car there. Customer service is HORRIBLE!

Yeah. I've avoided Bedford since day one. I was shopping for a dealership (and looking at MS upgrades) and stopped in there. They were annoying and basically avoided me. When they finally did approach me they told me their hours which were ridiculous.

Went to Westside and never looked back. Love that they give out the loaners even for minor stuff. They even have a guy on staff who sells aftermarket parts (although his quote on an MS Kit literally caused me to laugh out loud).

But now that I've done modding I gotta be a little more wary. I PM'd a Westside tech who's posted @ Cleveland6Club but have no idea if he'll respond (hasn't posted there in a long time).

Oh and you really haven't done any mods to your red car so I imagine you won't have any problems. Strakes don't count.

Last time I was at the dealer I had my AEM intake, AP catback exhaust, AP pulley, AutoExe plug wires. Never was a problem.

They even took me into the garage to ask why I cut the power and torque sensor wires for my power steering.
They were stunned to hear about this, but didn't say anything else like "you just voided your warrant!"

One day I called a manager and told him that I was running cat-less and was curious if they would give me trouble with warranty work.
He said, "as long as the aftermarket component didn't cause the issue, there will be no issues with repairing something under warrant."

It really depends on the dealer...

You go to Cascade in Cuy Falls, right? I would definitely consider them. Not quite as convienent as Westside but definitely doable.

I've got a call into Westside for Friday. I took the day off to recup from the Browns game and maybe go to Nelsons but this will take priority. If they are too swamped I'll try Cascade.

Megan's car is up at Westside now. She is getting her tranny rebuilt for the gear popping issue. Ryan, check the c6c thread on it...there is a name in there that I can't remember right now for the service manager that is buddy buddy with the c6c folk. You could even talk to her before hand like Megan did to make sure that things go "unnoticed"

And as for the Focus.... For some reason the rear door locks on all Focus sedans are **** and eventually stop working/latching. I never use the rear doors on the ST since I have the harness bar in there, so I guess that accelerated the wear Anyways, about 2 1/2 months ago I went to take it to the drag strip and opened up the rear door. The latch stuck and I couldn't get it to lock on the pin. I managed to beat it enough to get it to stay shut/latched, but haven't opened the door since, for fear of it happeneing again.

Well, Sunday "someone" opened up the rear door and it wouldn't close. Ended up having to use Mark's (blue RX-7) ratchet strap to hold the door closed.

and to Mr. Domo.....

I think I drove past your office on Sunday night on the corner of 44 and some other street... Unless there is another Dr. Mark A Domo out there, lol

Anyone know of local auto shops that carry ATE Super Blue? Gonna try to swap out my brake fluid this weekend along with the tranny and diff. Got my Redline for the diff/tranny. Just trying to find the brake fluid. Tirerack can get it to me wicked quick if I can't find it local or I might use a gift car on Amazon.

Oh and does anyone know when the next AutoX is around here? NORA schedule has ???? for the 8/17 event, something about an OVR cup the weekend after, and then two things Labor day weekend. Kinda hoping to run on the 17th.
I get all of my brake products from here

http://www.raceshopper.com/ate_brake_fluid.shtml

They carry all major brands of pads and fluids. they'll meet or beat any advertised price. Their prices are already low, ask for Edwin and tell them I referred you. I have a a liter here at the house already, when I change my pads in the next couple of months.

Definitely, check them out, it will be well worth your while, all the do is carry brakes and their components.

I got a triple spot on the Rx8's today.

Black/Nordic Green/Shinka (Don't want to offend anyone) on Fish Creek at 6'oclock I gave them a wave don't know if they saw or not.

Winning Blue on Rt.91 at 6:03 was turning West onto Norton, don't think they saw me I was going the opposite way.

Grey one of the darker versions coulda been a 40th anniversary color, going South on 306 at 8:06 I gave a couple honks since my windows were up otherwise I would have waved.

Any of those anyone on here? It's been awhile since i've spotted another 8 while I was actually driving my own.

Heh. I thought that might be you but I couldn't tell. Not that often when one rx8 is passing another with a 30+ mph difference. If I made that driver doing 40 in front of you pee her pants a little it serves her right.

Ryan,

I have to give Westside Mazda a positive recommendation. I had a little trouble scheduling an appointment. Apparently they are doing some remodeling and lost all their phone messages.

After that, they did everything they said they would and gave me a freebie to make up for the scheduling hassle.

I will definitely use them in the future!

Nah. I'm using Sunday to relax. I'll be running around tomorrow and have to work on Saturday. So if it's nice out on Sunday I may do another full detailing of my car. It's got so much *#$(% sap on it right now I think I have to claybar it to get it all off. If it's crappy out and I have my brake fluid I may give bleeding it a shot or change my tranny/diff.

All of this is assuming I even have my car this weekend.

I didn't realize your thing was on a track. Good luck. Have fun out there and remember to keep everything smooth.

Interesting. Well no problems with the clutch/tranny. They think it was oil overflow which certainly could be possible. I'll keep an eye on it.

On the flip side I got a CEL Wed. night (after I set up my appt). Figured it was the gas cap since I"d just pulled out of a BP station <10 miles before. Turns out it is a P0171. No problems with the car but that CEL has about 20 different possibilites from the MAF sensor to coils. The dealership thought it might be my vacuum line. No clue wtf that even means but the MAF sensor runs from by intake to the engine so I tightened everything up there (nothing seemed loose). I may bring it back but I'm also in line for the new coil/plugs from BHR so I might just wait to install those and see if it clears up.

Oh and all that concern about the warranty and the B2B expired in June. I swear they told me in March that I had until NEXT June. Oh well.

Doc - the brake fluid already came in today (along with my shocks/springs). I may be doing my swap on Sunday so if everything goes well and I don't eff up my car too badly I can probably help you out sometime next week. I'll let you know.

I'm in line too....
I just had my CEL flash on me yesterday (while I'll was revving high and popping flames... part of my "carbon build-up" removal... ).
I'm hoping its just misfires and new plugs/wires will help eliminate that.
I'm currently using the RX7 plugs from MazSport... been on them for a couple years.
