Stick with the NGK brand.
And you'll need two leading and two trailing spark plugs.

I won't be able to help if you guys end up doing this during the weekday since I work nights.
So just in case... read through these:

^In the spark plug DIY thread, you don't need to disconnect the battery and therefore, don't need to write down the radio presets.
He also mentions a wobble... you really want a swivel.

Congrats on your graduation Vyn.
(^ lol at obnoxiously large icons)

I'm no gearhead and I thought the plugs and wires were very easy on the 8. The DIY threads are so valuable.

Good to know about Smokers interests in pics of our ladies. I had not considered them a form of currency before. Let me know your exchange rates.

Not stx legal, plus they are 19's. Tires would cost a fortune.

Yeah, but if you are suggesting things to people wouldn't you like to know if what you are suggesting is actually useful, and not random garbage you find on the internet?

Except my options are to know every single rule for a sport I do not participate in or to post them and let the person, or people, responsible for knowing the rules to figure it out. I don't know what crawled up your *** and turned you into Scott's twin but if you have a problem with me just ******* say it already and get it off your damned chest.

Thanks for the tip but they're way too heavy. Just as heavy as stock. And ugly lol! And staggered. And like Brian said not legal. No I've pretty much decided on a set of black 17X9 enkei RPF1's. But I'm gonna destroy my current tires first lol. They'll probably last till the season is over and next year I'll come out swinging looking at you Steve and Megan!!!! Lol. You guys are the benchmark. This year is all about learning and gaining experience. I'm still deciding about tires though. Star specs are more expensive but have a better treadwear rating 200 compared to the RS3 I think they're called? Of 140. Then coilovers seats cat and exhaust and sway bars if needed. Maybe a lighter battery.

Anything I'm missing?

Have you thought about the PF01's? Similar to the rpf's but more clearance if you ever wanted to go with a more brake set up some time in the distant future.

Dude chill out. Common sense applies to the wheels. I mean seriously, who in their right mind would want to buy a set of 19" staggered heavy *** wheels to autocross on?

I mean, I know in Star Wars they said don't **** off the wookie, but with your recent post (read: tantrum) I feel compelled to poke the bear and troll you now.

Apparently you can't take a joke anymore. Oh well, this won't be the last time someone gets butt sore from the internet

RS3's handle the heat better supposedly, but the Star Specs are better in the rain, and considering we live in Ohio... Well you see where I am going with this. lol Also, the treadwear rating is how fast the tires will go bald. THe lower the number is indicitive of one of two things: Stickier rubber, or less tread on the tire to begin with. both tires have their pros and cons and either one would make a great choice to autocross on.

Plus the RS3 is only available in a 255, and the Star Spec is available in 265.

And PS: Steve and Megan should never be compaired to me as a benchmark. I rule them. If you want a good bench mark, take my fast times and subtract 1.5 to 2 seconds from them, because that's typically what Andrew Pallotta will pull in my car. (He's last years National Champ in STU fyi and co-drives my car on occasion)

I went with the RS3 because...
A)cheaper than star spec
B) Was able to be mounted and balanced on the wheels i got from discount tire which tire rack doesn't carry.
C) maximum wheel width in STR is 255 vs 265 as in STX. So the 255 width didn't matter.
D) It had been dry at the majority of the autocross events last year, so I didn't think giving up much in the rain would be bad... wrong

My initial thoughts are that the dunlops are probably an all around better tire... but I can't compare fully because the RS3s have never even been warm at an autocross yet.

Whatever you do don't get the Bridgestone Potenza RE040's cause I have them and after one heat cycle they become absolutely worthless in the wet and on chilled road surface...in the wet its real interesting. They have a 140 treadwear rating, but as it has been discussed somewhere on this forum they are garbage after a full heat cycle.

No no no lol I wasn't comparing Megan and Steve to you lol I was comparing myself to them. They kick my *** lol and it's great to have a goal to work for. I want to get my skill and car to their level and mix it up with them on the time sheets continually and once I can do that then I'm coming after you buddy
It is just a way for me to see if I'm improving. I think all 3 of you are fantastic drivers and if I can get to a skill level where I can compete with you guys it would add so much to the fun I don't care about beating anyone I just want to get as good as I can get. I'm improving with every run and I want to get to yours and Megan's and Steve's level. With benchmark I just meant it as a way to measure myself

Don't forget I'm a foreigner lol I might mess up my English from time to time so sorry if I offended anyone lol!

Thanks for the tip I did see them but they're very pricy lol. So far the star specs is what I'm leaning towards. I've just been going through so much info and so many choices it's pretty impressive as a rookie to make the right decision. I just want to take my current tires riken raptors (car came with them) and use em up while I learn. I don't know if they're good or not but it's good enough for my skill level. Once I feel like I'm better than my car can do then I'll be switching to the new rims and tires.

Yeah I guess the water rating matters lmao! Been pretty wet so far but I like it as it is a good way to learn fast. Especially in "what to do when oversteering and undeersteering" class lol! I was fishtailing so much yesterday and laughing while I did it. Although it's not the fastest I did get a sense of where it let go so I knew in my later runs how hard I could push it and catch it before it happened. I tell you what I'm addicted though.

Good looking out but they're 18x8 and I need 17 or 18x9 so I can fit 265's on them. Preferably 17x9. Tires are cheaper and the smaller diameter will help my acceleration.
