I saw my first Tesla Roadster today. He followed me onto the highway so of course I had to flame him a little to remind him of what he was missing lol

Tesla has insane acceleration though. I don't know if they got the 2 speed tranny to work yet but early Tesla's did 0-125 in 1 gear! I believe engine spins to 16k rpm. But they have 4500 laptop batteries on board so handling is awful. But few cars beat it in a drag race.

Well, it isn't a Steve job. The headliner sucks up dirt and greasy finger prints. And its a lot like card board in the sense that its either rigid, or it'll crease. I destroyed the headliner when I removed it from the donor.

I would say its doable if you have plenty of patience with it. But all you have to do is fish the mic through, so unhook the headliner in one spot, cut the hole for the mic, and fish it through with some wire or coat hanger or something. Shouldn't be too bad.

There was a guy last year that brought his Tesla to autocross... didn't race it, but brought.

And when you say the handling is horrible, what are you comparing it to? I mean, compared to most cars is one thing... Compared to an iceberg? Or compared to a rabbit?

Yeah I believe Top Gear gaged their 0-62 at like 3.8 seconds but I may be off a bit...I was watching a show on the construction of a Tesla and the battery weighs in the area of 1000 lbs, yet it isn't laying flat to the floor of the car which would surely improve the handling quite a bit. I think anyone that watched the Top Gear episode would question the $110k price tag.

Bad compared to just about anything lol. It's super heavy and on top of that it's center of gravity is high. I think the best comparison is to call it today's delorean?

When Doc and I removed his, it wasn't that bad... just take your time...

HA... I was just going through Mazda's web-based training that they use and while covering the fuel injector control portion, they mentioned this:
Because intake air amount varies during cranking, the PCM determines injection time according to coolant temperature (ECT sensor) and engine speed (CKP sensor).
Reminded me of a certain S2000 lately

Any trick to removing the A Pillar I should know about? From there Im thinking it should be pretty easy to get to the dome light area for me to install the mic behind the headliner or under the rear view mirror. My other thought was to run it up and install it in the heater vent. Only problem there would be if I forgot to shut off the heat/air while I was on a call.

Not that I recall... just like any other interior piece, take your time looking around for clips or hidden bolts.
Doc's was the only time I've removed the headliner (and most of the other trim pieces) so I can't tell you a step-by-step DIY off the top of my head.
You could always reference the service manual if you're not confident.

Disconnect the battery

I believe there was a connector near the bags too that you can disconnect.
But again... memory is hazy, but don't worry too much.

Yea, its important to worry "just enough".

Jon - have you had the chance to crack open my blown engine yet? I'm curious as to what you find... I'm still missing a 10mm deep that I dropped into the engine bay a long time ago... figured it might be in there.

Knock it off, frenchie. I wrenched on your car too if you forgot already because of all the hash brownies you've consumed.

Hey Jon missed you at Autocross buddy coming to next one?

P.s. I was thinking of adding premix on raceday. Good idea or bad?

I was busy that day.
Might come out to the next one... I usually don't know if I will until the day before (or day of) because things seem to come-up unexpectedly in my life...

Oh boy... that is a subject best discussed during beer time.
I'll just say this... it can't hurt (unless you add a crazy mixture... of course).

I hear ya. Well I have a TON of questions regarding "project Amsterdamned" I'm trying to learn so much about the car and alignments and wheels and tires and shocks and springs and sway bars and racing seats and my head is gonna explode! I try to research but there are so many different opinions on here..... it's hard to decide what would be best.

Now all this will take time of course. I want to run more with my car as is and improve the car as I improve. So an alignment I think will be first. Then when my crappy tires are done I'll upgrade the wheels and tires. And so on. Step by step.

So if you guys are interested.... beer night Saturday? Jon? Steve? Brian? Megan? Jamie?
