Anyone interested in buying my AEM intake??

I might be trading in the car and I'd hate to give it to the dealer if I do.

I also have Progress front and rear sway bars, but I'd need your OEM ones to put back on.

Sorry, my post didn't read well. But I see you got the gist of it. I was in the drivers meeting at Beaverun.

Great day there! Group 3 is so fun there. Pretty much just open track. No real run groups. Just go when you are ready. They do break it in 20 min sessions, but you can run them back to back.

Just got back from the hospital. Looks like I'm crippled for 6 weeks.
Broke the tip of my middle finger trying to remove Yulia's tire with a wood block and mallet.
That damn tire is fused onto the wheel hub.

Sorry Jon, that sucks... remember to use heat in that situation next time. Hope you got some decent feel good pills out of the deal.

Thanks again for all your help Saturday. I'm going to start pulling the Doner Car apart tomorrow night.

Tony, what color is said intake? I may pick it up off of you

Jon, dude that sucks about the finger. I've been there with the hub frozen wheel before.

Doc, does your drivers door handle feel funny. There may have been "a bag of tea" placed on it on Saturday

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Steve, in regards to your text message:

Shocks, dampers, struts:

Struts: Typical in a MacPherson strut design, a strut is an assembly that; has a shock absorber that has a lower spring perch built onto it where the spring sits upon the shock (think coilover) and shock/spring assembly move and turn as the vehicle turns it's wheels. Look at a Focus or Mazda 3 front end for a good example of this. A strut is a description of an assembly of parts, rather than a reference to just one particular part. Typically the strut will include; a strut bearing, shock absorber, coil spring, upper spring seat. Some people also include the steering knuckle as part of the strut assembly, it's really a 50/50 call

Shocks: Any gas/liquid filled device that is designed to lessen the transfer of kinetic energy to the passenger when used in conjunction with a coil spring. Basically you have a spring on the car to absorb the energy of the cars movement across a road surface, and you have a shock absorber to control that absorbed energy. Without a shock absorber when you hit a bump your car would bounce down the road like it was on a trampoline (also see Honda civics that have been lowered to the ground with only springs and stock shocks, as this is a case of a blown shock where it is not absorbing any energy and the spring is doing all the work. This is why you will see the car look like it is bouncing down the road) Also, this word is just the shortened version of the proper term, shock absorber.

Dampers: Typically used as a term to describe aftermarket shock absorbers that have adjustable settings to change the dampening force of the shock absorber. This is the technical term for shock absorbers, to put it mildly.

Now, all that being said: A strut has a shock, and a strut has a damper, and a shock is a damper, and a damper is a shock. But, a shock is not a strut, and a damper is not a strut.

Have I confused you yet?

Put it this way, all tubes filled with gas/fluid that are part of the suspension that are used in conjunction with coil springs (be it springs on or off the gas filled tubes) are shock absorbers. The terms as stated above are used to describe different types, but multiple terms can be used for the same things.

Example:

Konis: People call them Koni shocks, and Koni dampers. Both terms are correct. This is true because they are shock absorbers, but they are also dampers because well, deadens the kinetic energy of the suspension travel.

Dampers in coilovers: yep, as you guessed it, they are adjustable shock absorbers. But once again, going by the technical name, they are adjustable dampers.

So what have we learned?

Strut = assembly comprised of a shock absorber, coil spring, upper spring seat, upper bearing.

Shock = shortened name for a shock absorber.

Damper = technical name for a shock absorber.

I need a cigarette now.

Thanks everyone.
Sucks that I'll have to pay $30 for a shop to finish installing Yulia's pads.
Maybe they will give me a discount since I already did one wheel!

Its red.
Tony is selling the intake I used to have.
If I had the cash right now, I would consider buying it back from him.
Here are some pics of the AEM installed on my car:

I'm ok on the grounding kit. I've added a few heavy ground wires in various spots around the engine bay, all black of course to keep it looking somewhat cleanish. lol

Kris who? huh?

This is provided Tony even pulls the trigger and gets rid of the 8 (not that any of us want to see that happen though)

Oh yeah, him. lol

If Tony sells it I'll probably just leave it red for the time being. I'd rather see a test sample of the "black cherry" that they have, or the color that's close to it befor eI go dropping coiln on somthing that may not look right at all.
