Pretty sure that the time and money necessary to make a header that gives significant gains is more than Steve is planning on investing.

FWIW the exhaust system used in by Meyer Motorsports was probably around the same price as a new engine. Maybe more. And it was almost certainly more expensive then more of the turbos/superchargers out there.

Here's Eric's WAG on the RB header:

2). No one on this forum has dyno tested the RB Header so what are your thoughts on it for a street/track (DE) car?

PROBABLY GOOD FOR THE MONEY. CAN'T SAY FOR SURE. LOOKS NICE AND SHORT WHICH SUGGESTS IT FITS EASILY AND BOLTS UP TO THE STOCK LOCATION. I SUSPECT THERE MAY BE 7 HP. TOTAL GUESS. YOU SHOULD TEST IT AND DOCUMENT THE RESULTS!
That '7 hp' number is similar to the 3-5 HP that others have mentioned.

Also worth noting that he spent over 150k on his NA RX8 to get it to 223whp.

EDIT: LOL at this in that Eric Meyer thread:

I have totally forgotten what a stock exhaust looks like.

Congrats on your mid-pipe install.
Glad you were able to get it done without calling an "SOS" to one of us.
Now when the next person comes along and wants help with a mid-pipe, we know who to recommend

John...

Thanks to Ryan and Brian for coming out and installing the suspension. Seems to be doing fine... Sorry about the random tool box... but at least I have tools! Jon will admit that is a huge improvement for me. So is using a torque wrench, actually.

Doesn't look any lower, but you can def. tell the difference. I'll wait for it to settle and see whats what... didn't bottom out anywhere, which is good.

TJ. I do want that pipe. I'll arrange something for early this friday, or next week.

John has the Racing Beat dual res- Jon+Me have mazsport... no one has BHR. John would have corrected you, but I wanted to beat him to it.

Nobody has the BHR mid-pipe locally... that is the only one we don't have to compare live.
I wish we did so we can test the BHR, MazSport, and Racing Beat pipes side-by-side with the same cat-back since we have three cars with the AP.
You can't do a fair comparison unless the cars have the same cat-back because it really does change the tone.

The random toolbox was great. It reminded me of the Family Guy episode where Peter won a boat, but was given the option to take the mystery box.

Glad everything is working out and you don't have any random clunking or ****.

It's more than likely settled aready, but give it about a day or two more and that's as low as it's gonna go. Typically with brand new springs it will take roughly 2-3 days for it to settle completely. Since these were already "broken in" the only thing it really had to do was settle from sitting up in the air for so long.

I do have a question though, what's up with all the horror stories about Steves car? Pretty much everything went flawlessly last night

Shhhh, she'll hear you. . . . . . . .

No, normally there are numerous stuck bolts, broken bolts, parts missing where there should be parts, and parts where there should be no parts.

Like I asked if that was indeed the stock suspension I had on, because I do find random aftermarket parts on the car. Have for awhile. Jon and I took 6-8 hrs on a midpipe install... that should tell you something about these bolts.

For a second I was worried about upper A-arm bolts in the front and the lower shock bolt on the rear spindle. I'm glad those came out. hehe

And 6 hours for a midpipe, damn man, that sucks.

No ****. Just wait till it turns into the "bees fighting chainsaws inside a tin can"

AP midpipe sucks big floppy donkey dick. It'll sound good for a few weeks, maybe 3, then the material in the shitty *** resonators will disolve and your car will sound like a pack of wild Civics roaming though the streets of Ricerville.

The only reason I got mine is because John got the deal when he bought his exhaust. Looking back at it now, I think $150 brand new is a ripoff for the piece of **** this thing turns into. Literally it's not worth it's weight in scrap. (no offense to you John, neither of us knew it would end up sounding so shitty over time )

Good thing because I already blew the money from the sale on strippers. Just so hard to resist a 5 hour lapdance...

Don't forget that the struts are set on soft, near OEM settings so you're not getting much at all from them. When you're going on your next windy trip take a minute and adjust them firmer and you'll really know the difference.

Here's one guy who played around with the settings a bit and should give you an idea of the range.

Jon,

Did you every check your coils or happen to talk to Chales about what the resistance should be on the BHR coil?

Just curious

I thought you set them to the "middle of the road" setting?

Also, do you remember what size key the fronts were? I know you said 3mm, but was the correct? I know my mystery box has it in there...somewhere.
