actually he took it on a highway run and it wasnt until he got off and tried climbing a hill in 4th that he really noticed the problem

I would agree with downshifting.
BUT... accelerating uphill in 4th was an interesting experience with his car.
It might struggle as expected, but the car 'should' be able to accelerate (although slowly).
TJ's car did not have the ability to accelerate on the hill when I tried it and just maintained its speed/RPM.
Maybe I'm just not used to the feel of a stock car anymore
Next time one of you guys start to ride-up a good length incline, drop down to 4th gear and WOT and see how your car accelerates.
It'll be interesting to see how others handle hills in 4th.

Ah...forgot he went down there.
So just thinking about mods in general...increasing torque would be limited in the car because of the limitations of the rotor...yes? So increased torque might come from your pulley or flywheel more than from your MM tune. Right?

Plus, I wouldn't even consider my pulley upgrade to be that significant.
When I go on the hill tonight, I'll perform a couple logs of engine load, RPM, and speed.
I'll do a run with the tune and one without and see if there is a difference (since obviously my mods will be the same, just one is tuned and one isn't).
Yes... but you would also need that same grade of incline to properly compare the data
Its possible that TJ and I can do a run on the same hill using the same base map and collect that data.

Couldn't hurt TJ, maybe you can drive someone's 8 and see how it feels too... might just find out nothing is wrong with your car after all.
I took your car out on several WOT runs (starting about ~4500 rpm) through various gears and didn't feel anything wrong.
That hill experience might just have been me forgetting what its like to drive a car with fewer mods.
Like John mentioned, drive another car with close to the same components and see what happens.

Have you compared with another 8 to know for sure?
Maybe you just haven't realized that good acceleration on an RX8 should not be started below 4K rpm.

its not so much slow acceleration, i tried it in first and waited till 5k rpms and it went fine but the exhaust note totally changed and sounded so extremely loud and shitty. it never did that so i know its not the exhaust. idk the bad acceleration doesnt kick in till the engines under a big load.
