Akron/Cleveland 8 Owners.
Saturday morning is the Fathers day autocross at Northfield park in the morning. That is where I'll be. Trying to get my step dad to take the corvette out there...
Does anyone know if the "father-son" pairing has to drive the same car? I assume they don't, but still curious.

Next weekend (27th-28th). too much stuff going on this weekend.
John,
What were you thinking about re heading down tomorrow in terms of timing and hooking up? It's supposed to rain like hell tomorrow
, so I don't know that we want to head down super early. I was thinking mid-morning?

So I still have to pack and stuff. I was aiming to be downtown to meet Ryan about 11AM tomorrow. Then Im off to my parents house to loose a car. I'll call ya when we are leaving there and will meet you at 83 and 71 about an hour later. That cool?
If anyone wants to do lunch first let me know.
Any of you guys familiar with broken center console lids? Out of nowhere today mine is very shaky and i can open it up without it being fully in the back position. I am not having the problem where it moves forward if I brake like most of the threads here describe.
It looks like all 4 tabs are in place, and I can tell that they are inside the grooves. When I hit the latch to open it there is too much wiggle room and I can pull it open with little force.
Is something just bent/warped?

Either way I have to go to my parents house.
Hmm, I think I am missing 2 clips from the actual part that goes in the groove. I have 4 that are facing down that are in place, but I think there is supposed to be one in each tab that slides in the actual console groove.

two downward tabs are there, but are there supposed to be clips in the things above them too?

TJ and I are meeting-up today to look over his "lack of power" issue.
Too bad nobody wanted to tag along... I plan on teaching him how to inspect the whole ignition system.
Checking resistance across the wire and spark plug, how to inspect the coil itself for short circuits and abnormal resistance readings, and might even perform a "spark test" with the plug outside the engine
We'll also go into testing the intake manifold valves (SSV and VDI) and make sure the valves and actuators work.
This might have been educational for some of you who want to learn more about troubleshooting these systems.

Easiest fix, get a new lid.
Least expensive fix... figure out a way to create some tabs or brackets that you're missing.
Jon - what time are you turds meeting up and where? I figure we could check the resistance through my coils also considering they're probably original. I'd also still love to feel what the lack of power issue feels like.
Vincenza's sound good? Just let me know if/when you want to go for lunch, I typically go about 1130 anywho :]

John, as you said just give me a call when you have some idea of the time you want to meet at 83 and 71.

steve were meeting up at my house around two or so and id really like it id you came along, i wouldnt mind having both of you take my car for a spin to feel it. any and all input is helpful at this point. text me or jon if you want my address if you want to come.
Well... just got done with TJ's car.
I first took it out for a drive and did a few WOT runs in various gears starting at 4K RPM.
Everything felt normal, though I was taking into account he had a new cat on and wouldn't pull like mine.
Only thing I didn't like was when we went up an incline in 4th gear.
I started at 4K RPM and let the resistance lower the RPM a tad and then I pressed on the gas.
The car had a VERY difficult time accelerating on the hill.
Tested the intake valves and checked for leaks, everything looked good.
Pulled the coils and tested them, resistance was lower (lower than mine) and no shorts were found.
Tested the wire resistance and they were fine.
Even pulled the spark plugs and no carbon build-up was noticed.
The gap was a tad under tolerance, so I increase it to 0.049".
The biggest find was when TJ removed the plug wires.
Two of them came off with no effort. All he did was slightly grab it and it came right off.
Then when I was showing him the two different length wires, we discovered that he had 3 different length wires
The OEM trailing wires have a green and blue tape wrapped around it, but only one of his had it.
Not only was the "odd-ball" wire the shortest, but it also wouldn't clip onto the spark plug.
We both tried with no success, so the wire is loosely on the plug.
So I told him that he needs to get that replaced with the CORRECT wire.
It was late so they just took-off after we were done so I don't know yet if it improved.

Jon...was that you that I saw coming north on 71 today around 230?
Glad that you were able to take a look at TJs car. It's great that it wasn't anything major.

Jon, thanks so much for looking at my car today, i really owe you one. idk what we did but the car pulled fine all the way home. i kinda laid off it a little till we got off the turnpike and then i tested it and it was better than ever, though im still gonna buy some new wires asap. still, thanks
oh and i was right, my new parts were waiting for me when i got home (black strakes and new clear corners) so that'll be a little adventure for me after work tomorow.

No problem.
It could very well be that the wire came loose since it can't snap onto the plug.
Its only time before that slides out again.
If you want aftermarket wires, give Charles R Hill a PM and ask for a price quote.
He'll hook you up.
Take pics once you get them installed.
