Yeah, that would be good. The plug wires are definitely going to be replaced, but checking the coils afterwards would be a good move too.

Thanks everyone =)

midpipe problem

okay guys (mainly Jon and Steve) i went to put those gaskets on today to stop that exhaust leak and turns out theres a big hole in the gutted cat we put on. so gaskets arent going to help too much. my mechanic friend told me to just scrap it and get a new cat. but i told him i didnt want to pay 1200 dollars for a new one. he said that they have to replace it if its less 80,000miles or 8years. but last time i took it there for the cat they wouldnt look at it because of my exhaust and intake. you think if i went up there and said i know for a fact its the cat that they would replace it for free? cuz i cant keep driving with that hole. the smell and fumes are so bad.

But it couldn't hurt for him to borrow them just in case since you aren't using them.
Well I'm bringing the coils and plugs and he can do what he wants with them.

Maybe he can help fix it.

He is in Hong Kong and won't be back until the beginning of next month.

Can't hurt to ask.
Blaming the cat-back and intake for not covering the cat is dumb and wrong, but you may end up going through all kinds of "channels" to get the dealer to listen.
Don't be shy to try other dealerships too.
Say you installed a high-flow cat to see if your cat was the culprit of your issues and that confirmed it was.

Hey turds... I just got to Shanhai from Hong Kong today and the hotel has internet, so I figured I would stop in and see what's up.

TJ - Sorry about the pipe, I can take a look at fixing it upon my return Red China (June 1) Or you can throw your OEM cat back on and see if you can get a dealer to cover it.

Hope all your other turds are doing well. . . and I also hope (but deep down I know) that my car is not flooded.

Glad you got there safe Steve. Ryan thanks again, you're bringing the wires too? Guess I'll hold off ordering a new set until tomorrow then, doesn't hurt to be sure. You'll be up at Northfield right? What time you planning on being up there?

I did pretty well at the autocross yesterday too.

Jon came by last night and helped me put up the new exhaust. He also showed me a better way to switch out the brake pads. Much easier than what we did before. Mach what we did was harder. There is an easier way. Next time you're in the neighborhood, I'll show you.

Thanks Jon!!!!

Brian, I had the car lifted up when Jon got there. You're right it helped alot. Tnx.

The new exhaust wasn't any lighter than what was on there. I had some custom made, rigged up thing. It wasn't the stock exhaust. No way to know what it was. They weighed about the same. But we now have some pipes and parts to work with. I needed more parts in my garage...............LOL

Auto-x was a lot of fun yesterday, thanks Ryan for letting me drive your car, there are a lot of differences in feel compared to Brian's and Doc's. Congrats guys on placing in top 10 pax times!

LOL... When I pulled-up in Doc's driveway I saw legs sticking out from under the car.
