When I was looking around I really didn't want to buy something I hadn't heard in person. It really started to limit my options...however I remember how the first time I heard Jon's exhaust I started drooling. It also came down to cost for me as while your exhaust to me is ok...I don't have the same response and Ryan's exhaust while nice...I didn't like the highway drone.

I was talking to Brice last night though while watching the coilover install and you aren't getting an AP exhaust. :P Even if you order one you will get the ExoticSpeed. :P

As Ryan said...Id be more than happy to give you a ride one of these days. Heck maybe we can work them out so they are back to back. Also the cabin noise was louder than I had expected as it is louder in the cabin than out. It seems really weird to me but whatever.

Yea yea yea... Under your logic also, I have never heard the exoticspeed before. I've learned my lesson about just buying something and saying, "eh, it'll probably work." (Actually, I didn't learn my lesson at all, this is just too expensive to be doing that.)

So its still a toss up between the Exoticspeed and the AP. I mean, I don't want to be the 3rd guy locally that gets the AP... but being different isn't a good enough reason to get the exoticspeed. Especially if it isn't as good sounding.

In addition to this, I just got quote both exhausts would be the same price shipped.... AHHH!!!!!

EDIT - I didn't mean yea yea yea to your offer. I meant it toward getting the exoticspeed no matter what I order... It would be good to have an exhaust showdown and we can harass passers by to see which one they like best.

Hey RK, Shinka Rex, Jon316,

I just wanted to give everyone an update on my pending brake/rotors. Rotors arrived, and I tried to order the pads from Summit but they are on backorder until mid april. It wasn't just the Hawks, it was every brand/sku for the fronts. I found that to be a bit weird. Anyways I ordered off ebay (before Shinka Rex suggested Tirerack) They wont be here for at least a couple days.

Right now, Shinka Rex has offered his place in Hudson to work on them, but more importantly I'm looking forward to meeting you guys. I've got Spring Fever and want to get out. Let me know when the next gathering will be. If it's ever in the Akron area, my suggestion is Swenson's. I freakin love that place!

Based on all the research I did when I was shopping I had it far and away as #1 for a daily driver. It gives you the Borla sound w/o the Drone. It weighs more as well but as a DD exhaust 5lbs isn't that significant. It uses full 3" piping (unlike either the AP or RB but I never remember which) so it is going to give you the most significant gains available for an exhaust.

Unfortunately at the time it was only available in Australia or with serious import fees + shipping times.

Yeah. Too bad you didn't say something. There's a local Hawk pad distributor that I get my pads from. And I've got a set of HPSs with about 1/2-3/4 pad left for the fronts I probably woulda sold ya. I have no idea why I still have them. Or my OEMs with about 1/2 the pad left either. Does Goodwill take brakepads? Maybe I can donate them. :D

If you get them before the weekend I'll be around on Saturday. Busy on Sunday though.

AP is 3" pipe w/ 4" tip so I think you are thinking of the RB exhaust. As for the Hymee...I looked at it...but DAMN is it expensive.

Interesting... Honestly though... I can get a new AP or exoticspeed for a better price shipped also.

I don't know, I've never heard it live. And a higher base price doesn't mean a better sound. I hate to admit it, but I would rather have a better sound than a few extra horses.

I did go polish my tips on my lunch break to see if I could re-enjoy my racing beat though.

How do you know such "facts." Also, from your recent playlist, you like fuel... I bet you think they sound amazing. While I don't like fuel, and possibly may not like magnaflow.

A racingbeat catback just went up for sale too. Perfect. lol

Magnaflow as a whole has one amazing sounding exhaust system. It is a deep deep growl on all cars and I am sure that the 8 is the same. They are known for that tone and I can't see them excepting any other.

Hmm, I guess that does make it tempting. But still... I mean, I could get a new one for cheaper. Or I could just enjoy my more reasonable exhaust note and invest the money in other areas of the car. Lets face it, the money for the exhaust could go a long way in other areas. Tint for starters.

I have a custom magnaflow on my ST...

Granted it may be a Focus, but here's what it sounds like. Magnaflows are the sexy.

Also, there's a turbo attached to the other end of the exhaust, but basically this is a 2.3l 4 banger without a cat and a magnaflow. They will give your car the deep tone you are looking for

Guess it was the GReddy that was 2.5" piping. I thought one of the others had a combined 2.5" and 3" mix but I mighta just been hitting the rock a little too hard when I thought I read that.

Here are a few shots from John's exhaust install. Apparently this limits to 5 attachments at a time, so here come a few more..

Took place on 03-06-09 at John's
It was brought up on 03-03-09 and discussed throughout that week.
John asked for help on post #4515.
As you can tell I have some free time at work now.

few things should frighten an RX8 owner more than "vyndictive" lurking under your car....

I am a couple hours from breaking down and just ordering a new exhaust... I'm doing my best to talk myself out of it. With the money for a new catback, I could get my windows tinted, a short shifter, and new foglights....
