Hey guys... looking to hold off on my "capital intensive" automotive projects. So we're keeping it to under 3 figures for awhile. . . . .

Anyway, I'm looking to fix some of the random nonsense that I've been putting off...
Starting with. . . . .
Heater control... anyone have a soldering gun they could loan me?

Silly Steve. You know if you stop spending two digits and move up to 20 digits the gov't will just bail you out. And you'll go wicked fast.

Beautiful thing, America. Land of the freeloaders and home of the ballsy.

I haven't decided yet. I think I can make it out there. I've never done suspension work and would like to see how its done.

Plus I know you've pulled the stereo and climate controls before (correct?) and you could probably assist me in repairing the solders on the temp control circuit board.

But, I have to be in Cleveland at 3 for a Chinese acrobatics show for school. . . . . don't ask.

That should be the easy part... getting to the board poses the problem... Remember, I have 3 gauges jammed into my ashtray which I'm sure will make removal more interesting.

Then I'll put your exhaust on for you... those bolts from the header are tough... I might need the plasma.

The burning smell of a PCB is a unique smell.
Couple tips when soldering on PCBs (if the pads are surface mounted):
  1. Too much heat is bad. You can burn the board, traces, or even lift the pad.
The pads are held in with a tiny bit of adhesive, so don't keep too much heat on it.
  2. Ground planes require more heat for solder to reflow onto the pads.
  3. Depending on what you're solder, sometimes its easier to add solder to the pad first, then put your component or wire over the solder you just added.
While holding the comp/wire down with one hand (preferably with tweezers), reflow the solder with the other (usually don't need to heat the pad or comp/wire because the solder will get hot enough to combine them).

BTW.... what are you fixing on the PCB?

Damn thing won't connect to the Xbox360.
I see my computer on it and did a test connection through the Xbox360, but TVersity won't recognize the 360.
This is why I keep my original modded Xbox... XBMC FTW!
F'ing Microsoft!

TVersity supports the 360...I swear it does.

I assume you did everything under the uPNP stuff found here?

I actually just watched a step-by-step video on Revision3's podcast Systm.
Seemed easy enough!
I forwarded all the ports for my router (192.168.1.101 - 192.168.1.104) and only thing TVersity recognized under 'status' was a Media Center at 192.168.1.101.
Which after performing an IPCONFIG I realized this address is actually my computer.
I manually went through all the IP addresses my router has and manually plugged them into the IP field in TVersity, but no luck.
I watched the podcast again and they said you shouldn't need the IP entered, so I cleared it.
NOW I get this:
Akron/Cleveland 8 Owners.-tversity.jpg
I can't even manually enter anything anymore!
AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I'll try those links you posted and see what happens.

The key in the one was that you had to disabled the WMP sharing in order to get TVersity to run correctly from the same machine.

I verified that media sharing was turned off.
I ended up just uninstalling/reinstalling the program to start fresh and now I'm following the link you provided.

Because it won't even connect when I disable the Windows firewall for LAN and wire the network cable straight to the 360 (bypassing my other router connecting the two x-boxes).
It gives me the same error as the screen shot above where I can't even manually change the settings.
Why the hell would you disable fields in the settings just because it wouldn't connect to a server.
That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Those settings are on the local machine though and have nothing to do with your xbox. The fact that you got that screen means that the server was up at some point as TVersity is just a web service.

Did you start the service after the install? I think it is...

Start > Programs > TVersity > TVersity Media Center > TVersity Tools > TVersity for Media Center
