Routing the oil into the maint ports makes sense though. At that point it will just get pushed into the rotor housing and will just be extra lubrication for the apex seals. To have it route into the accordian tube just makes a mess of a bunch of stuff. However...it does help explain why Steve had problems now and not all summer. Oil could have been there since he bought the car and just the cold temps of winter caused the SSV to sieze.

Well, leaving the mexican place I went straight to the gas station... since then, put 120 miles on the car and its running great... not even a whisper of a stall, idling higher than before at 1k-850 rpm. No misses under load, no mid range power loss (that I notice)

I did record my lowest temp in the car last night... intake temp read "1 degree" or -17 Celsius.

But year... everything appears to be going to plan.

I'll order my catch can today, and probably stop by autozone for some new battery clamps as well as have them clear my CEL codes.

If they did then you would never had had any problems because owner #1 would have already installed it.

BHR Ignition Kit should arrive today. Since it's supposed to get up to a balmy 45 degrees on Saturday I think I'll spend some QT with my car. See if I can use some of the things I learned on Saturday to clean up my car.

Holla - I'm thinking about going this route instead of a catch can...
Thoughts?

No thanks for now. It'll depend a little on what shows up in the mail this week but my plan is to change my brake pads and the coils/plugs on Saturday. And clean my wheels.

If my gauges and can come in then I may make it a full day and change my oil, cut up my dash, put in the lotek gauge pod, and install my oil catch can and my gauges. I can even go into Sunday if I need to.

Also going to check my intake for oil now that I know what to look for. May clean that as well or put that off for next week when I have W/Th off and then the weeeknd.

Hopefully will have everything done by then so I'll be completely ready for the trip in 2 weeks. If I need more stuff that should give me enough of a window to get it.

Well I am off starting on Wed this week and I don't come back until Monday next. If you want a hand cleaning intake parts or something let me know.

Sooooo....... Since I'm totally out of the loop here, I'll barge in and ask a totally non-RX8 related question:

For those of you out there who are a little more *ahem* "life experienced" than me......I've got to cook a ham tomorrow in a slow cooker. Anyone have any tips? I've read that it should be in there for anywhere between 6-8 hrs on low (it's a 7lb ham). My only concern is that it might dry out. Will it be ok in there without some sort of sauce/marinade/whatever addition? If I've got to put something in there with it, what should it be??

Thanks for the help, and please don't let me F up my Xmas ham.

-Tony

According to this recipe you don't even use a sauce. I thought the whole point of slow roasting was to keep the juices in so you should be fine.

I will if I have problems. You can count on that.

What's your normal active hours on Saturday? Not worth waking you since my car can sit on stands for weeks if it has to.

Tomorrow night is my last night working then I'm off for a couple weeks.
So I will probably be on a "normal" sleep schedule by Saturday.
But its best to know in advance so I can adjust to wake earlier if needed.

Well Me and Early rarely work well together so pretty sure you can sleep in. Doubt I'll have truly hosed anything up until well after noon.

Sounds good.
I'll be free all day... probably just install my intake manifold extension and prepare for the move (whenever that happens).

Cool. Thanks! Seems pretty easy, although at 7lbs. I'm not sure this is a picnic ham. I'm sure it will be fine, though. Famous last words.........

Hello to everyone! I've been creeping in here every once in a while, but I'm certainly not up to speed on what's going on with everyone's cars. I look forward to meeting up with you guys again after the white fluffy stuff is gone, and my car's out of hibernation, to get caught up on things.
