After AutoX BBQ - Frederick, MD Sept. 15th

What brand do you have installed in yours?
I've noticed a HUGE difference since putting in the R3 diff. It feels like the car has a lot more power than the 7% it apparently gave me. Of course, there was an equally huge decrease in fuel economy... my last fill up I averaged 13.8mpg

Wow... 13.8.. that is approaching insanity... I would love the extra torque... but man. I don't know how I feel about that. There is one for sale for $800 on the f/s forum, so you got a great deal for free...

If you're looking for a big leap in power, I would definitely recommend buying a numerically higher diff. Short of forced induction, it's the biggest power increase you're going to see.
Thanks again Nate!

do you have an EGR block off? If you don't want your headers scratched up you can wrap them in self adhesive bandages until they're in. I would imagine that putting penetrant on the fasteners would make lots of smoke but may help loosen them up for you. Theyre going to give you a nice raspy sound but don't expect a significant torque increase, as the exhaust ports are our flow bottleneck.

I think the biggest hit to fuel economy when I put the diff in was the fact that suddenly the car was a hoot under full throttle acceleration, so I did it constantly! I'd say at least half of my reduction in fuel efficiency was due to the addition of much hoonage and funs.

@blade: the only way to make significant power gains without forced induction is through porting, even with forced induction it's still a good idea, many more flows, powers and noises.

Back to the original topic... I have updated the attendees list and we are getting close to 15 people with significant others, so it would probably be a good idea to break a folding/camping chair if you have them. They are really nice to have for Autocross anyways and with this many people coming there may not be enough seating.
Also what kind of food do people want? Hamburgers/hotdogs? Ribs? What do you guys like?
I am not much of a beer drinker, so you guys let me know what kind you like and I'll make sure it's there.

Chris and I did the swap in like 8 hours I think, so that was basically removing and reinstalling the pumpkin twice. But ordinarily you would swap just the gearset, which is a little more involved, best to just get the whole pumpkin if you could.
As for the BBQ, I usually bring a clutch of foldey chairs to autocross anyway, I can bring some meatses I reckon. I like ribs and burgers and stuff like a red blooded 'Murican.

What time does the autox start? I was heavily contemplating registering my car, BUT, I will be 3 hours from home, so we'll see? But I definately want to attend if nothing else, where can I find the info?

8am is when you have to be there for registration/tech inspection... you might be able to get away with showing up as late as 9, but I wouldn't count on it.

👍 there's no doubt in my mind I will love it. I love driving period. And anything that challenges my capabilities behind the wheel. I saw someone saying the guys on coilovers may think they're too low. Not sure why that is? I actually just put my coilovers on this past weekend. Going to get an alignment, changing my oil, checking all fluids an I'm ready to roll for the 15th.

As of right now, I'll be +1, my brother says he wants to come, hes owned several 7's, and had the same problem of finding people who love the rotary like us. I'll update if hes not coming..

I'm pretty damn psyched that we're actually gonna have a good number of 8s out there on the 15th!
