St Louis area 8 owners
AJ I want to see your car again before the winter. Its been a while.
Nice seeing everyone that went to Hooters tonight too.
I cant wait to get my car back on the road again though. Hopefully it will be this weekend sometime.
And also in a few weeks im gonna set up a cruise for whoever wants to go. Nothing big but it will be about 3 hours long and include a good amount of backroads.

Not I, said the blind man.
I was still at work on a PM Shift when y'all went to Hooters. So, how were the...hot wings?
As soon as I get myself acquainted with the crew over there, I'll make it a point to come out for a weekend meet with y'all. Looking forward to learning a bit more from other RX-8 owners, so I can make some good decisions on what to do next with my new toy. I've only had BEA5T for a few months, yet I feel right at home in it. I did have to raise the ride height back up (by removing the Tein S Tech springs installed by the former owner) so it wouldn't scrape away the remainder of the skid pan underneath. Even so this is a very stable ride!
I would like some input regarding snow-season tires. I can just feel it that the big ol' fancy Falkens are gonna be like skis in the snow. Logan (former owner) as much as said so. Now I've got to find snow tires for a 18-inch x 8.5 Work rim... Either that, or I buy cheap tires and cheap rims...? Oh, Lord, not that! Can I really suffer the goofy looks in favor of sure-footedness?
I'll check back after y'all are over the hangovers. Maybe the convo will be coherent then.

Adam, we definitely need to do one more cruise before winter, I vote the saturday after this one. I'll be busy this Saturday watching Alabama bend us over a table, haha.
ZouRx8,
I'll check into the Continentals. Thanks.
Tim,
Letting the BEA5T sit isn't really an option. The Jeep ran dry of coolant while driving from work and it'll require some major engine work. I've got to depend on the RX-8 to get me to/from work through the winter, as my only form of transport.
All things being equal, I guess I could spend over 2K for an engine rebuild for the Jeep; or I could spend a little over half that for tires that'll allow the RX-8 to negotiate Route O in the slush and snow...

Oh...
Cole,
The BEA5T used to scrape on almost any little curb here in town. On the way home from purchasing it in Mountain Home, Arkansas, I had a split-second decision to either straddle or swerve around a dead raccoon in the road. On-coming traffic dictated the former. There was a resounding >THUMP< and all I saw in my rearview mirror was hundreds of quarter-sized black chunks fluttering out behind me. I pulled over as soon as practical, fearing the raccoon had shattered the front air dam and strewn it all over the road. My wife was in the car behind me and let me know it was only bits and pieces of fur that had flung everywhere. It did, however, point out to me the car was slung way too low, if a squashed dead animal could get snatched up on the undercarriage.
I've recently put the OEM springs back on, so if anyone else out there wants / needs a used set of Tein S Techs, I'd part with them for cheap.
Ridin' higher in the saddle again,
TJW

Stopped by to let everyone know were doin a hooters meet this Sunday with the old crew if anyone wants to join. Half of us aren't running in our 8's anymore but still should be a fun time even though it seems like you just went earlier this week.
Mr. Pieper pretty sure your wife and my girlfriend work together.
