MadeULook, hey, I saw you this morning on 694E. I was in my beat up black Corolla driving next to you. I didn't know you remember me but at least you waved at me. Nice looking car man. We should meet up sometime. I haven't seen you for a while now since last time you came over to my house.

Check out my in car Video during street tuning with Chris on the link below.

I run 5w20 conventional oil in my car but now its getting really really cold, do I switch to 5w10 or 5w30 or keep it the same? I'm confused.

keep it the same.

5w10, 5w20, 5w30.... in the winter will pretty much operate the same in winter...

viscosity levels are rated lowest to highest by ascending number (1,2,3,4 etc)

5w10, 5w20, 5w30 are all multi grade... so the oil can change viscosity. when its 10 degrees out it will have low viscosity and will be easier to start (less thick) that's where the 5w comes in so all those oils are in a sense the same. the 10,20, or 30 more applied in warmer temps.

you want thicker in warmer temps and thinner in lower temps.

gotta love minnesota though, the only reason we see multi-grade oils on the shelf is cause we live in a four season climate change, so our oil can change without having to change oil every time the temp drops or raises.

Thanks man. The car was tuned on old plugs. It also runs very rich at the moment. I replaced old plugs with new plugs and stored the car for the winter. Will get the car tunes in spring when the weather is more reasonable. I am thinking of install a manual boost controller and get it to boost around 12 psi. Right now it only runs at 8 psi or so.

i also like your car.... 12psi would be sweet and that would be as high as you wanna go anyway. I personally would probably run it at 10psi.

and i wish i had the luxury of storing mine for winter... winter tires and 120lbs in trunk works very well though!!

I agree with you on the 12 psi. Right now I am satisfy with 8 psi. I may change my mind later. I just want to have a quick car that I enjoy driving and not having headache later on. Will see. I may just put on boost controller and leave it at 10 psi.

You should spend some money and get yourself a beater. I have a corolla that got for $1600. That is money well spend for me. Good gas mileage and always start up every time no matter how hot or how freaking cold it is. I just look like a dumb *** when I drive that car. People just give me funny look but what the heck I just don't care.

Auto-zone stores will read it for free, or sell you a scanner for $60... they also have tools for rent.

Otherwise, if you're near Crystal, I have one and can help you out.

Hi guys. I'll re-introduce myself since I just officially joined the 8 club once again today.

I need to pick up a set of winters (rims + tires) so let me know if anyone has either a set of winters or even a set of 17 rims FS. I saw some winters craigslist tonight but I'm guessing the winter tread is probably gone since they have 18k miles on them already, and the snow compound only goes down about half way.

hey guys, a buddy of mine does custom car audio install and he just installed the Metra Kit and a 7inch pioneer headunit in my car and hooked it up really well and made everything work. If anyone needs some help with audio install he is probably cheaper than audio shops around the cities. He is working on custom sub enclosures for maximum trunk space and all new speakers to replace the Bose system in my 8. Just letting you know if anyone needs a local hand at their cars audio.

Yeah, just couldn't stay away :-) I got an '04 with 33k miles- base model. I had to give up the sunroof to be more comfortable with the headroom situation.

So my passenger tail light has condensation.. after reading around the forums on this subject it's apparent people have strong opinions on this one way or another lol. Anyone locally done a fix for this and had it work?

yea man... i have that issue what i do is just pull the taillight out take the seal off clean that... get all the water out of the light... then get a hairdryer and a vacum on the taillight one on each side of the tail light holes. Let them run for about 10 min and all the water will be gone. but you will have water spots unfortunely. Also clean really good on the car where the seal comes in contact. thats where the water sits and gets in. if you need help just contact me... i know it sucks one of the only things on the car i dont like

If you have the warranty still they will replace them for free. I ended up getting 3 sets from mazda before i got a set that didnt leak water. I ended up blacking the tails out anyways so they could still leak and i wouldnt know. pretty sure they dont anymore tho

Last year was the first time that mine had developed condensation in the lights. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it yet.. but the gasket kit was insanely expensive from Mazda via Walser > $100.. I'm going to have to see if I can do something myself instead..

But for now she's parked in the garage hybernating..

I'm looking for a mechanic shop I can trust with my 8, on the south-east side of the cities (Apple Valley area). Anyone have a recommendation?

Tony, it may be the actuator or the switch. If it's still under warranty have the dealer fix it. If it's not.. it could get pricey!

My 2004 did that.. they found out the actuator was bad.. after replacing the switch. If you are in the car.. head down by the gas pedal.. look up to the center console.. when someone turns the heat, you should see the actuator open and close... If this isn't happening to match the switch then the problem is either a bad switch or bad actuator..

Groo, I like Walser in Burnsville for their service department. The only part of Walser I don't like is the finance vampires that you have to deal with if you buy a car there.

So far I've found their parts and labor rate prices to be reasonable.. (at the worst, no worse then anyone else.)

yeah it still functions.. you can hear the air when it shuts off.. i have to hold the **** all the way to the right for the heat to kick in... i heard it could be a bad circuit board? apparently some soldering will fix it?

warranty through Ford dealer... but 100 dollars, and CAI, no cat, and exhaust... they might not like that....

Ugh, don't take your RX8 to Walser. Two bad experiences, here is one:
