Anyone done this successfully? I've tried a few times now, following the directions to the letter and my car refuses to pick up the input from the '05 remote.

I reprogrammed the key no problem.

So those out there with an '04, were you able to ever get the '05 key to work?

yes...about a year ago it was finally figured out and I took the plunge

are u pressing the door stop button (the big black rubber stopper thingy in the door jam?)

it all must be done quickly while programming all the remotes you have sequentially

I'll be out of town this weekend otherwise I can help you early next week in person.

Yeah, the car responds correctly (auto lock/unlock) when I press buttons on either of my two old remotes, it just seems like it's not taking any input from the new one.

I also have programmed mine. The order I did it:

follow the steps, resulting in the auto lock/unlock:
Program (old) remote 1
Program (old) remote 2
Program (new) remote

Took one time and it just worked. Is it possible you got a bad remote? Or is the remote not for the RX-8 but for a different Mazda?

If you pull the key apart (key part from remote part) what are the ID numbers? Mine is:

ETCO93LPD0012
FCC ID: KPU41788
Visteon No: 41788

(The door switch is the little rubber one on the jamb of the rear door, which controls the interior lights.)
• (( OPEN DOOR ))
• close the DOOR
• Insert key
• open the door
• Turn ignition On/Off, 3 times,
• Push door switch, 3times
• Car will lock, then unlock
• Push 'Lock' on first remote, 2 times,
• Push 'Lock' on second remote, 2 times,
• Push 'Lock' on second remote (new), 2 times,

Now all 3 remotes are accepted by the car.

It took a few times for me to program my remote.

Did that help you Alcimedes?

Not sure if anyone has heard yet but we are hoping to do a meet sometime in March (hopefully the end since I will be on vacation till the 16th of March).

The idea is to do some mods like Speedbleeders and whatever else would be possible to complete in a short time.

Malamore have you installed your Blinder yet?

I need to see but I may have a grille to sell you, precut, if you are interested.

Right now mine's in the shop. The power steering light came on this sat, so I checked all the fuses, pulled out the big blue book of repair and that was of little help too.

So I took it in yesterday and when they hooked it up they said they got a code with 30+ pages of things to check and do. They had no idea how long it would take so I'm rolling around in a red neon...

Good thing its still covered under war. but I want my baby back...

No, still didn't work, but I've got a few other projects I'm doing.

If anyone is feeling helpful and would like to show me how to take the bumper off, I'll probably be working on my 8 this Wed. and Friday. (and possibly sat.)

I need to add the RB screens, replace my cracked foglights and I think I'm going to do the foglight rewire (so they can run independent of the headlights). Not sure if anyone else here has done the foglight rewire, but I'd be more than happy to be the guinea pig for that.

Plus the work would be in a heated garage with a lift, so it will be about as easy as it's going to get.

Just wondering if there's any body shops people would recommend. A coworker put a ding in my door today, small but noticeable. No paint damage, but it's obviously dimpled and I know it's going to drive me nuts.

Anyone have a decent/affordable place they've brought their cars to?

actually Ted stopped by and we got it all done in a night. It was quick and pretty much painless.

If you know where to get a ding fixed, let me know. I tried the dry ice trick with no luck.

The Walser burnsville body shop took a dent out of my door for me. I'm not sure if it's their PDR or they contract it out. All I know is I had a couple for one free Paintless Dent Repair and it worked out very well. (It was smack in the middle of the rear drivers side door.. drove me NUTS every time I looked at it until I got if fixed.)

Hey guys, I live in Minneapolis for college, and I've been looking at Walser and Morries for a new/slightly used RX-8s.

Have any of you had any positive experiences with them? What should I be expecting to pay for a slightly used, loaded, GT 6 speed? Or new?

Morries has a great service department but I've heard their sales people are all over the map...some great and some ********.

Walser I do not know.

If Poquetauto gets an RX-8 in with the specs you like go with them...they are great to deal with.

If you don't want to haggle just find a price, and if it feels reasonable just buy it.. I highly recommend Walser. My only complaint with Walser (same with every other dealer I've done business with in the last 10 years...) the finance guy is out to screw you, and screw you big time.

Be aware of the rates you can get from you credit union and/or bank, BEFORE going in and signing on the line. That saved me approx $150 a month for my car. Also avoid, like the plague, any dealer addon packages... rust proofing, sound deadening, etc.. it's just a big rip off..

Find a good sales person, find a good price, and you should be good. I have had good luck with Walser in Burnsville.. both sales and service.. (just that damned finance guy was an idiot.)

Agree with fray....

I just bought a new 8 from Walser. No issues. I test drove one of their 'lightly used' 05's then had them ship in a newer one with just what I wanted from a Ohio dealer trade. They even took care of a small scratch on the mirror and a door ding that must have happened while it sat on the lot in Ohio.

They won't haggle with you on their price or the trade, but with all the incentives and MAC rebates I got the car $4500 under sticker, including the extra charge to ship it in from Ohio.

I just bought mine from Walser a couple months ago. Norman Smith was the salesman and he was great to work with. Their prices seem to be the best around, and I think that I got a very good deal. I will agree that the finance guy is out to screw you over, but I've found that to be true at any dealership (it was actually much better than my experience with Park Jeep). The free oil changes for life and the 1 year of discounted gas at SA are also bonuses of going through Walser. I haven't had much experience with the service department, but I can tell you to stay as far away as possible from their collision & glass shop in Bloomington... (My car had a crack in the windshield when I bought it and that's where they sent me)

Problem is I'm hesitant to buy used, and Walser doesn't have any new 05's left.

There is a dealership in Green Bay, Wisconsin with a blue one with my options new. We're working him down slowly. It has everything on it. Aero, GT, Leather, Spoiler, Stick. They want a high 27k, but I can get a brand new one from Chicago for high 24, but unfortunately, its titanium / silver, and I would really prefer a blue.

I'd look through the used section of this forum before buying new. You really pay a premium for new, and this car can't be sold for much over 20k used. The second you drive it off the lot you're going to lose 5k on that car.

For 24k I think I could live with silver ;-) Try a search on autotrader.com, maybe you can locate another one with a couple hundred miles that have the specs you like. Hopefully you can find like $6k-$7k off MSRP.

Well, the time has come for me to upgrade.
option 1 get a bigger turbo and fab the pipings to work with the greddy kit
option 2. Since the greddy turbo is already small. I make it a Twin turbo and get a bigger turbo to be place in the engine bay.

I fear option 2 may blow me up. hhehhehe
