I know there is at least one RX-8 down in the Owatonna area. I was driving down there last summer and ended up parking next to the guy w/o even realizing (at first) it was another RX-8. (At the McDonalds in Owatonna.) Said hi to the guy, he was a local. (The car was one of the new green '05s.. man thats a pretty color on the 8.)

But as the rest have said, they're pretty rare.. and you do get attention driving it around her. I have had many people ask me how much the car cost, and they all start guessing at about $50k.

I looked a the mazdaparts site. His Seibon hoods are less expensive. Questions is though get the hood or the Hymee?

well if you are thinking about the hood for the CF weight advantage is not huge...as the stock one is aluminum...but it does give a very distinctive look...definitely would be the first CF, or rather even first hood swap in Minnesota that is for sure

very hard decision either way

to bad they don't build a bridge to hawaii

UPS Ground (how does this work???)
Guaranteed by: By End of Day
Tuesday December 28, 2005
Billable Weight: 70.0 lbs.

$153.89*

There must be a cheaper method...by boat from Santa Barbara to Hawaii...put it on a cruise ship for instance

I'm pricing out DHL right now but wait a second, don't they have a special transport rate/program from California to Hawaii between armed services bases?

Funny you mention boat, It averages us(my US Navy Destroyer) 10 days from SD to Pearl Harbor. People complain about the 8's MPG my ships burns 1,000 gallons on hour.

I priced out DHL and it was more but they only offer 2day service or overnight

2day is 169

There probably are some nice freight options for a West Coast to Hawaii run...then again if you can find some other guys to go in on it you could order a pallet :p

I'll look into the various options...FYI the hood will cost even more to ship due to its peculiar shape and need for two carriers to move safely.

The hood can wait. $169.00 is NOT bad for shipping to Hawaii to be honest.

direct bolt on yes...the only hard part is after loosening the Ubolt the stock tailpipe often sticks to the intermediary pipe...some guys it came off easily...some had to simply heat up the pipe...others just used penetrating fluid

we should try pricing out fedex too...if you know other shippers usually it can be done

price out
42lbs

box is
Length: 68
Width: 18
Height: 10

allthough the configuration of the box could be different and causing price inflation
