hmm I'm out of town and haven't driven with the Revi and this cold cold weather yet, I'll check it out tomorrow night or wed

 

This is the ECU preventing damage to the engine before it is fully warmed up. I had that happen last year when it was colder than it has been the last few days. That is when I didn't have the Ram Air Duct, stock air box, so it isn't the Revi.

Let the car warm up a little longer and you shouldn't have this happen. This was also before the R flash (that limits the rpms like this to prevent heat damage to other components when the car is not moving).

When it did the cold weather RPM cut and sputter I was a bit alarmed too but I know it wasn't warmed up enough since it was 20 below zero Farenheit.

 

Got an indash dvd/mp3/tv/cd etc.. for cheap.
I splice into the head unit wires. Everything works just fine. except the dam clock is always one.. power is always on.. I know I saw this happen to someone else before..
can someone point me to the right direction?? I be searching.

ah yes I forgot about this, same thing happened to me, pretty scary at first

the stock display clock. If I also notice if I can turn the radio, cd player etc on with out the key.

 

that means you have something setup with a positive ground accidently

find out what it is because your battery will drain quickly

reverse the polarity of that device an all will be good

(btw it may be that dvd player of yours...I had an Apex portable dvd player from target I was using for testing on the idiots who made it had the ground and positive reversed, whenever I left it plugged in the room fuse would remain on and I could turn off the car, remove the key and even lock the door! and walk away all while the internal electronics remained on, f-ing annoying!)

Nothing worse than not being able to figure out what is causing a problem.

Last night I was over at my Uncle's because my Aunt's car was having issues with the wiper motor. Not sure what even caused it but after disconnecting and reconnecting the wiring plugs to the remote start and tucking it all away and securing it all is well. No problem anymore.

I used one of those T-harnesses and there is nothing that should be tapped to bother the wiper motor. I guess it would run for five minutes and then not work properly (move up and down like 4 inches only on high). Only thing I can think is the t-harness was not getting a decent connection but it is held in place by two bolts so I am not too certain that was the problem.

 

oh btw Ted the movie I saw was 'Angel Heart' it was stellar! I bought the DVD btw if u are interested in borrowing it.

I have a beater car but as long as there is less than a few inches of snow on the road I drive the 8 (with winter tires).

I have a second set of stock rims with Blizzaks snow tires on and the car drives great. Even if there is no snow the stock tires become hard and unsafe at under 40 degrees, under 20 and the car becomes almost undriveable and dangerious.

heheeh I found the cause a few days ago. Turns out I don't need that blue wire (suppose to turn on the amp etc..)

 

I am in the process of getting back to Minnesota. I'll either be in Minneapolis or back down in Owatonna. I have a Sunlight Silver RX-8, which has been bathed in the Hawaiian sun for about a year now. I look foward to getting back stateside and hopefully meeting some of you fellow 8 owners.

So how common are the 8's back in Minnesota. They are a dime a dozen on the island. The 3 local dealers usually are sold out before cars even arrive. However this is the only car i have owned that i truly love driving.

They are still very rare here...in fact before this summer I saw one maybe once every three months. We all still get looks at our car everyday...doesn't matter if there is a corvette next to us either...hope your not self conscious

Just got the message I sent a reply from my work account. I had one of the first 8's at Pearl Harbor. It didn't last long though. To make matters worse some kid that is on my ship bought the exact same car I have except his is an Automatic. I have only seen on RX-8 here that has any body mod's to it. And that one is a local dealers promo on wheels.

 

well there are no 8s here with bodykits that I have seen in a year and a half...so you'll probably be the first

sure some of us have done body mods but no full kit

from what we can remember there are only 3 Sunlight Silver RX-8s in the state of MN you'll be the 4th (Ted, 4yrs to supercharge is the second, and a guy a mile from me is the third)

It'll be great to see a kit on a local Sun Silver...maybe each of us could get a different kit

To think I was almost ready to sell my 8 once the kid bought his, I should be slapped for thinking that, but I have decided to just out class his. I am looking for a hood too. I found one that I like but it is CF and I am not too sure about how that will look.
