The Furai will be doing a demonstration lap on Sunday, April 20th at the Long Beach Grand Prix. Discount tickets are available to the Mazda family. The attached flyer contains a list of the events each day and the discounted pricing.

 

Is Long Beach in the Chicago Suburbs??? J/K - that sounds really cool - I went to the Marlboro GP years ago back east - great time...

I heard from adamrotor last night that he was looking for the meet ... did you guys all meet up?

 

OK, we are going to get rolling on this parade planning. I have to get the application in to the city of Aurora by the first week of April.

So if you are interested in being in the parade, please PM me. I will need a picture of your car and a copy of your insurance card. The insurance card will be submitted to the city with the application. The pictures will be used to make sure no one is trying to enter a car in questionable condition. And if we get more cars than the limit, we will set up some sort of vote to see which 8 cars we want to represent us.

There is a limit of 8 cars. Right now I have the following people that have expressed interest:

I figure we will meet somewhere for a quick breakfast around 9am on Memorial Day. The parade lineup starts at 10:30 with the parade kicking off at noon. Then I figure afterwards we can head somewhere for lunch.

ya the parking lot was packed for some reason so al and i went back to my place for a bit then zoom3r came over then we picked up adamrotor (if he was the polish guy with the blue 8) then got gas air oil another rider then went for a cruise in huntley. thats why i put my num on there cause if no one shows up by 710 i just go home. but if they call me i can go back and get them.

 

i want to get a big flag to fly out my sun roof. lol jk but this day is special for me cause i was in the military and know a few people that have died in the war so im going to get some sort of thing to put on the car for their memory.

I think the Miata club is going to be in this parade again this year, and I'm sure they will get the full 8 cars - cmon, people, we don't want them to outnumber us!

We also have another way for people to participate if they don't want to drive in the parade. They allow people to walk alongside the cars, floats, etc and hand out candy and flyers. I think it would be great to have at least a couple people doing this. We can give out candy to the kits, and flyers to anybody who seems interested.

 

Excellent idea, Luis. Come to think of it, I have a couple of those small flags that you can stick in the top of your car door. I will fly at least one of those, and I have the extra if someone else wants to fly it.

I was in the military too, and I still have some buddies that are in. So I know what you mean.

What branch were you in? I was Navy. If we could get devildog to come down for the parade, we'd have at least three branches represented (assuming you weren't USN or USMC, that is).

Sounds like the parade thing is really shaping up. I am currently in the Navy so I too will be flying some Navy stuff (Navy Flag, and CPO stuff). Looks like we have everyone but the Chair Force and the Coasties.
