KW NA just quoted me $759.99 each plus 30-40$ shipping. That's $1550 it's tempting, but a lot of money. Truechoice in Columbus quoted me $1150 to rebuild revalve my Koni's, which I can just by them from Ground Control for less or the same price with their nice top mount camber plates...

Not many options that are inexpensive that will make a huge difference.

Maybe I should just throw some Weltmeister250# lowering springs on the front and be done with it.

That RX-8 you had is starting to look real good, isn't it James?

Coming home from Mexico City in the afternoon. Didn't see any RX-8's in MC. Lots of Audis and VDubs.

Hey steve! well... hate to tell you but the rx8 was not sold in Mexico, believe me when I go visit the family, I'm still the talk of the town, and they still ask me if it's a 6 or 8 cylinder... but yeah Mexico city is Vdubs town... Mexico was the last country to produce the old bug and ifI remember correctly it ran production until 2003!!

Last time I was there was '99 and I remember seeing a brand new Bug with the sticker on the window. I think they were about $8k new. Pretty cool, they made those til '03. If you go East out of Mexico city, you will pass the factory where they built these. More beetles came out of this factory than any other.

seems like we get to run on the concrete pad instead of the parking lot!

Mar. 30 Test and Tune
Mar. 31 Point Event #1
Apr. 5-7 National Match Tour
May 18 Point Event #2 / GLD Divisional

If all goes as planned I'll be there this year. I'm kind of nervous for my first run .

So, wife and I drove 2500 miles on the 8 recently going to florida. Was going over the car yesterday and noticed that I have a grooved rotor (driver side rear). I'm looking at possibly getting slotted/drilled rotors and hawk pads. Any suggestions on sites to order this stuff from? Been looking at tire rack. I've seen quite a few, just didn't know if someone had a suggestion or a good experience with a certain dealer.

Have an anniversary coming up, so I'm also considering some other additions to the car.

1. Brakes (StopTech SportStop Drilled and Hawk HPS Street pads)
2. Oil cooler screens
3. LOWER (probably tein s tech)
4. Catback Exhaust (Leaning towards the Racing beat w/ single tips) also saw turboXs exhausts, little worried about being too loud.
5. Odula front lip

Love any suggestions for mods.

I wouldn't bother with slotted and/or drilled. There is no real performance increase and they'll eat pads faster. Just go with Centric Premium rotors. They're well made OEM style blanks, and already have a black coating on the hats so they won't rust and look like ****. Stop Tech and Power Slot use Centric blanks to start before they ruin them with slots and hole. Tire Rack and Rockauto.com usually have the best prices for the rotors. HPS can be found at Tire Rack as well and are a good choice. I usually got my pads through BHR since they're a vendor and their prices include shipping, making them cheaper that pretty much anywhere else.

The rest of the mod list sounds pretty good. You should get with Dan (redsun) and see if he still has his kw v3's and go lower the awesome sauce way with nice coilovers.

Kevin, sorry I missed you at Fuel on Saturday. Didn't see you or your car, and I almost always head for the far end of the lot first as that's where most of the cool kids seem to park. Note that was sarcastic (about the cool kids).

I wrote a Camera Mount DIY.

In Car Camera Mount DIY

The rotary shape part will fit where the head rest is, and camera can be mounted on the rod which extend between driver and passenger seat. (this unit does not have the actual part to mount the camera. still need something like a bike camera mount.)

Does anyone interested in such Camera Mount? I have one I made for this DIY, so if anyone's interested, let me know. The material cost is just $10 or less, but takes a few hours to make, and I really don't know how to price it, so just make me an offer...
or if anyone want to make your own, I'm more than happy to help!

I just ordered Eastwood Fender Roller. let's see what we can do with 5x130 once it's here in a week or so. when do you want to have your Garage warming party at my house? lol

It took two of us about 30 hours over two days to do it, with an extra helping hand or two here and there. Don't forget that it's a big *** car. A lot of that time was spent learning the material and really getting a grasp on what works best. Jason and I could probably do it way quicker now. Hell the hood took us 3 hours because it's where we started and it we needed to stretch the 5ft wide roll about 3 inches to cover it.

Here's what I learned in a nutshell and in no particular order.

- Make sure the garage is warm and you can keep it warm. All of my vinyl shrunk away from body lines after being out in the cold instantly. Leave it in a warm garage for a few days until the glue can cure.

- Heat is your friend, but use it sparingly. Try to lay as much vinyl as possible without it. Once you start to stretch the material you end up with too much and basically have to stretch it more for coverage because it can only shrink so much. Keep in mind that it will shrink a little from it's static state and will pretty much shrink back to static once stretch and heat is applied.

- Along with the above, try not to stretch the material if you can.

- If you need to stretch it to cover a panel, do it slowly over the length of the vinyl and stretch a large part of it instead of just stretching the end you need.

- Use your hands. Forget about using the squeegee until it's laid out on the car. It took us a bit to figure this out. It saved a ton of time once we did.

- Be careful with how much you heat it, and how much you stretch it. It will discolor,

- Use 3m #94 Primer on all edges where you wrap it around, or on any complex curves. It makes it super sticky, but still didn't save my body lines from shrinking and pulling off. Other places it worked great though, like my wheel wells. I have some if you need it.

- Be patient. It's not necessarily hard, but it's time consuming and there is a lot of 2 steps forward, one step back while you're doing it. It get aggravating.

- Do one panel at a time, and finish it before starting the next one. It's best to get it all stuck down and to not leave the sticky back exposed forever.

I'm out of town this saturday night and not sure when i'll be back Sunday, but if you get started and need a hand, give me a call.

I will let you know. I just sold my tires on Craigslist, so fitting the 265's shouldn't require much of a roll when it's cambered out and the torsion bars have been re-indexed. P.S. bought one Bilstein Front Coilover from Paragon, 3 down, I to go! woot! I need to get that painting stuff as well when I stop over. Let me know when you get the roller in.

I would go for Redsun's KW's, that is if they fit f/r an '09??? If so that would be the icing on the cake for an R3. KW V3's are not your average coilover.

They'll fit an S2. Shock wise, the only change was the position of the perch on the rear shock. No changes to the front. Since they're adjustable, it won't make a difference. I think this is why Steve's rear doesn't sit as low as an S1 on s-tech.

I'm staring at my KW's in my apartment right now lol. My parent's place is in Fairfield and since I'm only in Columbus, with enough notice I can head down for a day on the weekend. I didn't end up making it down until the late afternoon last week or I would have gone to Fuel.

PM me if you're interested in the coilovers.
