Don't take it to the dealership, buy the coils and plugs and call me, I will do it for lunch which is a lot cheaper than a dealer's labor rates. Don't be scared, just don't procrastinate on it. The solid cel can mean a ton of different things, a flashing cel is a misfire. Last year just after winter started mine started doing this, changed plugs and coils and began premixing, my car has never misfired or any cel's other than my cat that threw a code in the summer, but that's unrelated. I would be willing to bet your coils and plugs are tired and not doing their best. You'll need to look around for the best prices. I got my spark plugs from sparkplugs.com and my coils from the dealer. It's going to cost like 200 in parts, but it will make your car much happier.

On a side note I am getting my BHR coil kit on 2/18, I can't wait to install it.

I bought my coils at the dealer for $33 each, and the plugs at Summit Racing for $15 each, I also relpaced the wires. It still made noise when the secondaries opened, The premix is the only thing that made it go away. Winter gas is mixed differently than summer gas, it is mixed to burn at colder temps, so in the rotary, it tends to detonate early. I believe that is alot of the problem.

I think it's our cars way of saying '**** you, move somewhere warmer!'

But seriously, your coils and plugs are due, and I will help you if you need, lunch or not.

What's very low compression? I was told the same thing, mine is been running fine. There are a lot a variables that go into a compression test, rpm, was the engine fully warmed up, is the battery in good condition and are the connections good. I would personally ask to see the results. But if you can get a new engine under warranty HELL YEAH.

I wonder what other kinds of 'tests' they are doing.

Sounds similar to mine before I got my new engine.

as for the winter tires handling like crap, I think mine handle pretty damn good considering there is like a 4 inch sidewall lol

Thanks Bose. I might just take you up on that. Hell I'll even buy you DINNER! haha. It'd be fun to do it with you because I know nothing but the very basics about the renesis. I think you're probably right about the engine light Raleigh, because I ONLY get the light during winter months. Doesnt seem to matter what the temperature is outside because it even does it during warm spells.

Oh and some more good news! Someone hit my car in a parking lot! Im working security here at CR England and when I got off the other day I noticed that my passenger side exhaust housing is completely demolished and my bumper is popped out a little bit and scratched. Better yet, no note and we dont have any cameras on the parking lot. Sigh....

Nice Tim , his is black. Didn't you know
there is a curse of the blacks too.:

Sorry to hear Darius, seems like it's hitting you all at once.
I'm free on weekends, Tuesday and Friday nights. Let me know.

I'm getting the BHR coils on Thursday and might be installing them this weekend, we could have a plug/coil replacement install day.

ok, problem with second gear is still here after basically two rebuilds of my trans... taking it in tomorrow to yell at the dealership and anyone else around. I would guess that its a shift fork or something because they already replaced syncro's and gears...

^Did you look at the clutch pedal bracket, as bose suggested?

My second gear is always a bit notchy when the tranny's cold, but once warmed-up it smooths out.

Valentine's Day cost me a total of over $300 this year, counting dinner and gifts- and thank God the jewelry was on-sale. So you're at least saving some bucks, snowboard!

Well after two years of mulling it over, I finally ordered myself a set of strakes. I opted for the polished stainless-steel from RX8strakes.com, figuring it an excellent price for metal strakes. Also I've read good things about the fit of these strakes. Seems the stock strakes rub your paint off where they touch sheet metal. Bose, I may need your assistance once they show-up, if you're available. Hopefully they'll be here before the end of the week.

That's excellent new 04. Glad to hear it's getting fixed and congrats on the new clutch. Woo Hoo.

JT I have school on Wednesday and Thursday night but am free every other day.

Snowboard, Defiantly check your clutch pedal assembly, also what kind of trans fluid is in there, it needs to be a GL-4 grade. Mazda once upon a time was reccommending and may still be using a GL-5. Which is bad for the soft brass syncros causes a lot of wear. So you may need to switch to something with friction modifiers removed.

That shouldn't take too long. Do you know if it's a new one, or a reman out of North Carolina? I've heard great things about the new reman's, and there is a member on the forums who works there rebuilding them his SN is Sleepzy-Z.

Sweet, Mazda has put a lot into their reman program lately, and they have been producing very nice reman's. I'm stoked to see it running and how my engine stacks up to a fresh one.
