I'm taking the last week of May off, so I could probably squeeze in a cruise sometime during that time. In the meantime I'm just swamped at work and home. Remodeling this summer but need to take care of a bunch of repair/maintainence issues first. Hell, a car isn't a real money pit compared to a house!

Put 5 gallons in the tank this morning, and a dose of premix. I've noticed that since I started premixing, I'm getting a little more carbon on my chrome exhaust tips. Not much, but enough to notice. Hmmm...

This weekend was not a great one for me, just bad times so there wasn't time for it, I'm totally pissed about it. But things needed straitening out so whatever.

And Holy BJezuz 20" rims? I suggest, get rid of those boat anchors and get some lighter wheels and you'll have better acceleration and depending on what you go with better handling.

LOL yeah a have to agree with you on the rims bose. I didnt actually buy them. The dealership that I bought it from put them on before I bought it. I do need to look into a set of 18"s.

Welcome smartyfool!

I don't have a hard time with my 8 in snow- because I don't drive it. It spends the winter parked in my garage while I drive an Explorer. But a lot of other local 8 owners drive their cars year-round. For me it's not a handling thing- I just don't want to expose my car to road salt and sand. I ruined an RX-7 doing that here years ago. Also, I'm Mr. Stock. I have an '07 that I bought last year BN and so far have only added clear corners, and front and rear rotary accents, plus I bought the Mazda cover and front mask. This year I'm going to add eyelids, fender strakes, and front-and-rear splash guards. No performance mods until my extended warranty is expired in a few more years. But several locals are into mods and I'm sure they'll be posting soon. Bose is always looking for more hp, and DariusDemon has an aftermarket breather, that I'm aware of.
I have to admit that I'm interested in the Cobb Accessport and researching that one now- a possible purchase if it doesn't affect my warranty.

If we can get a cruise or meet going, you must join us! What are the details of your 8?

Good to see you found the club smartyfool. Feel free to post any questions you have in either this or the other Utah thread. Also where are you in Utah? And what are the details on your car, year, color, mileage, any mods

Winter and the 8 are not best friends, if your like me and have no second car to beat up you'll need a good set of snowtires to manage. As far as oil goes I use castrol gtx 5-w20 right now but since it's getting hotter I'm going to switch to a heavier weight, need to do a bit of research before I do though.

As for mods there are alot of little ones you can do. What are your goals? More power, handling? Let me know and I will help steer you, but I don't have all the answers.

And finally Jethro, the Cobb accessport is not detecable as long as you reflash back to stock, I would say almost no chance they could tell you flashed it. And I only say almost cause I'm not 100% more like 99% just cause the way it works, it's like an ninja, no trace of it once it's gone.

I got the impression you leave it attached, so you could monitor certain parameters in real-time. But I guess you're right- nothing to prevent you from restoring the factory flashes before taking it in to Mazda...

You are correct that you can use it to monitor many realtime things, but it doesn't need to be hook up to do the job, all it does is take factory flash and store it to it's internal memory, then puts it's map in place of the stock flash. Swap them as much as you like. (within reason)

Have not, my money is all tied up right now until my wheels and tires get here, then I want to do the mazsport 5speed conversion. (damned 4th gear synchro) But all my buddies with subaru's have them and they work the same.

thanks for all the reply guys, i am in Pleasant Grove here, a silver 05, with all the aero package. I guess i have to stick with this car since i cant afford another ( nor the space) but i think a lil zaino once a while helps a lot with the paint.

Have you guys done any intakes for the car ? If so , what brand do you guys recommend ? RB one is just way too exp.... $650

I have had two intakes, right now I have the Racing Beat and last I had the AEM/mazdaspeed. In my opinion the AEM is not very good period, only cool thing is that it's LOUD AS HELL and does nothing for performance. The Racing Beat intake and duct it what I have now and I love it. Not annoying good throttle response and such. Any questions let me know. PM me or whatever.

Like Bose said the Accessport does not need to be connected at all times. Just to flash the computer. Once the flash is complete you can disconnect it and store it, unless you want to monitor any of the real time parameters of the car. I have one for my WRX and it is great. Welcome to Utah and enjoy the 8.

I would be down for a drive, but sadly my 8 is in the shop....again. I got a call from the repair place and they said the catalytic converter is broken and that is was going to cost $1600!!!

I am beginning to think the world hates me.
