I'm not driving it like an idiot or anything. Anyone know what it could be or what I should do?

Also, is there a recommendation for oil brand and type that works well with the 8 and where to take it for changes?
Coils are a well-known problem. Many people replace them fairly regularly, even before they fail outright. New coils should also improve your mileage slightly. 15mpg city is about average; your high odometer mileage may have something to do with your low gas mileage. Watch it carefully and see if it improves with the new coils. My car is an '07 with only 5,000 miles on it and my city mileage is about 16mpg, on the highway I can get 20-21.
Do some searching on oil, there's a lot of discussion on this site on oil issues. Some people recommend a heavier oil, for better engine protection, but anything heavier than the 5w-20 that Mazda recommends can reduce your mileage.

Remember that the engine uses oil injection and it does consume oil- be sure to check your level at least every other fill-up of gas.

I use the Idemitsu premix at 1/2 the recommended rate and some people claim that it can increase mileage ever so slightly. Again, do some searching and decide for yourself. I can say for sure that my starts are smoother, both in sound and feel.

And you know to never shut off the engine cold, right? If you do, you risk flooding it, and the de-flood procedure can be a pain.

It can be a fussy car- but if you pay attention to it, it won't be an issue. I love mine and would not trade it for something twice as fast.

Hey, guys, last year I bought WreakLoosE's stock hood (he had installed a CF hood), but it's just getting in the way in my garage. So if anyone needs a gray hood (it's either GG or TiGr, I forget), I'll sell it to you. BN is over $400, I'll entertain offers. It is in excellent condition except for one teeny, BB-sized dimple near one edge. If you're going to repaint it then this isn't even a concern. Amazingly light, the stock hood only weighs about 15 lbs.

I tried hanging it in my living room as an artwork, but that just PO'd my wife!

That's why I like silver. "Under the radar". But, I've always liked silver cars. The 8 isn't my first. It looks high-tech to me.

Thanks for the suggestions Jethro. I appreciate it. I spent alot of time today reading all the oil posts and debates. I was wondering where you got the Idemitsu premix? I would really like to try this out. I definitely notice that my car idles kinda hard and I could use any mpg boost, so I am willing to try anything. From what I have read, it sounds like using a good premix in small amounts can really help.

Hey RoXas, whats up i think i know where you bought that car from, its called chicos isnt it or something to that nature? i work real close to it so i saw that car there a couple times i even stopped and lookes at it. high miles but nice never the less. I have an 05 white one that i bought lovin it. i have only had it for a month but its great. i had a couple issues as well but overall it has a been a good car, i hope to see u around, i live in Draper like right off pioneer road and 1400 east.

Hey guys i have a question, does anyone else's f'in CD player suck ballz? every time i hit the slightest bump the damn thing skips and skips and skips, getting annoying. Should i have the dealership replace it under warrenty or is it normal for it to do that? also has anyone done the ipod hook up deal? is it worth a ****, i have to get something in that car, other then CD's.

Thanks guys

CDUBYAZ you are exactly right. Thats where I bought it from. They are a great dealership. I was very impressed. They are kinda funny too in regards to some of the stuff they do to drive the sale. When I was there looking at my 8 I noticed that every car there had these totally baller rims and I was wondering why. Yesterday when I went to pick up my plates, there was a guy there putting new rims on four cars they recently had traded in. I guess whenever they get a new car, they immediately put crazy aftermarket rims on either to increase the value or they are trying to appeal to a certain crowd.

We are practically neighbors. I live near the corner of 11400 S and 1300 E. Really close. Im sure I'll see you around!

I ordered a case from Mazdatrix. I think they are on the vendor's forum on this Website. It was about $58, shipped to my front door from California. 12 quarts to a case. I didn't really shop around first, but they do have a good price on the stuff. I just picked the vendor closest to SLC that I could find, who would ship the stuff. I've never found it locally.

I have a little plastic 4-ounce squeeze bottle, with a long spout, that I use for squirting it into the gas tank. I've measured and marked the side of the bottle in 1-ounce increments. After I squirt in the right amount, which depends on how much gas I pumped, I add a little more gas from a gas can in the garage, just to make sure all the premix gets washed down into the tank itself.

Do you have the single disc player, or the 6-disc changer?

I have the 6-disc, 300-watt Bose system and it works like a champ. Never skipped at all and it sounds great.

I think getting the dealer's opinion is a good idea, and if they'll replace it for free or at minimal cost it might be worth it.

Mine does that too sometimes, but I personally don't care cause I'm listening to my exhaust more than music.

You gave me a great idea, bose.

I'm going to record a bunch of different aftermarket exhausts, then burn them onto a CD.

Then I can have any exhaust sound I want, for just the price of a blank CD.

And it will sound better on the Bose system than the real thing!

Yeah Militaryman, i have a system that hits pretty hard and when i have the bass up the thing skips cause its vibrating so much! At first i thought there was just to much power and it was shorting out or something but then i thought it cant be cause it doesnt do it with the radio, i have a 1000 watt amp running two 12's so there is no way it i have to much power for that amp to run it. It really bugs me.

Yesterday i got a call from D Dahle asking me how my service went in my car and if i had any problems with the work they did, i told them they left it all dirty inside, and the lady said sorry and to bring it by today so she can clean and detail it! so thats pretty good, also i am gonna have them check the stereo, i just can't believe it skips that bad, i am sure there is a problem.

that would be awesome JT, put a bunch of burnouts and stuff on there too, and blast a Drag race launch sound but take off at a normal pace.

Yeah it's uber simple. Here's a link to DIY. Don't worry about his 'internal reflector problem' cause they look great with it in but it will tell you how to get back there and put it in.

ok cool. THanks Bose! Yeah I looked at it again and it looks simple enough. Ahh man I went out last to night and did some street racing out west. Who says our cars can't drag?!?!?! (well i did...but damn!) lol I was mopping the floor with everyone! a decked out turboed eclipse, another decked out jeta GLI a couple spooned out integras. Man that was fun. My sister brought her Mini Cooper S and I raced it for her too cause she was scared haha. But yeah that was the first time I've taken my 8 racing and it was a blast! undefeated!

Hey, Darius, congrats!

Just a piece of adivce, though-

If a Mustang has a hood scoop, STAY AWAY! It will eat you for lunch.

If it doesn't, just make sure you're revved above 5500 before you launch, and you'll do OK.
