I'd have to look at it to give an accurate quote. Can he take a photo? Typical rash repairs can run anywhere from $25 for small stuff to $100 for a totally rashed rim. Usually people will shop for a clean used rim if a repair goes much over $100, but that's rare.

Over the weekend I saw several 8's. There was a gray 8 at F.Y.E. on Friday night, then a few minutes later, another silver was parked next to mine. There were two or three 20-ish guys inside who were checking out my car, and one of them actually returned my wave. Theirs didn't have the sunroof, might have been a sport model.
Saturday night I found myself behind another silver, and he turned into the bar on Redwood road across the street from the liquor store.
Been seeing a red one going both east and west on 4100 south quite a bit lately, driven by a guy. Also one driven by a younger Asian or Hispanic girl. 8's everywhere lately, after going a few weeks without seeing any but my own.

I keep seeing many more, there were two at a concert on Thursday last week on 36th and state a silver and a red one. Then another red one driven by a very hot looking blond, last night 'round 630 on 5th west and 90th south. With so many 8's on the road how come there aren't any meets.

Hey everyone! I am finally back. I havent posted or been on the board for quite some time. The reason being my 8 was dead and I didnt want to bother you guys with the troubles, but I finally got it back today!
So here is the story (for those who care to read)....
Some of you may remember my 8 dying alot after driving it for about 30 minutes and me being told by a local mechanic that it was my cat converter. With the help of bose, I replaced the old one with a high flow cat. Obviously, this was not the cause of my 8 dying. The same problems continued, so I took it to D Dahle Mazda. Their mechanic, Damon, was awesome. He was so willing to help and was very empathetic of my needs. After running several diagnostic tests, he told me that my engine was bunk and that I would need a new one, but that this wasn't a problem because of the new 100k warranty. He put in the request to Mazda corporate for the engine. This happened on the last week of June.
Sadly a couple days later Damon gave me the news that my car actually came from Puerto Rico (which was unknown to me) and that it didnt fall under the 100k warranty. I would have to pay for the new engine and complete tune up, a total of $5,700. Obviously I couldnt afford that having just bought the car in March. Many a vain hour was spent talking to Mazda's corporate offices begging them to help me in any way possible. Damon also helped me research the history of the car. Come to find out, it was taken to D Dahle in Febuary and the previous owner was told that it would need a new engine, but again it wasnt under warranty. It seems he took it Chicos autos in Draper and pawned it off on them. They, not knowing anything about Rotary engines, thought it was fine and sold it to me. I, not knowing anything about Rotary engines, bought it after taking it for a couple of test drives thinking it was fine and being given a 30 warranty.
To make an already long story shorter, in an effort to avoid a lawsuit, Chicos agreed to pay for half of the total cost of the engine and tune up, and I, in an effort to avoid getting a used engine from them and having it installed by their no-nothing mechanic, agreed to having the work done at Legacy Mazda in Orem( I guess they have some business contract.)
So there you have it. I got my car back today. Dealing with D Dahle Mazda was great and they were always willing to help. Dealing with Chicos was a joke and they tried every way to get around what I rightfully deserved. Dealing with Legacy Mazda was painful. They were slow, unprofessional, and never gave right quotes on anything. This is why this whole event started on the last week of June and I just got my car today. I will never deal with them again and I would encourage others not to as well.
After driving it to work today everything seems to run well and I am very exctied to get back out and break in this new engine.

I just want to thank bose again for his help while I had some problems, thanks bro Hey jethro, you still doing the rim buffing thing? I might send you some pictures or we need to meet cause I want to see how much it would cost me to make them look clean, they are not bad and I actually think that the damage was there when I bought my 8 so not very noticable but I still want them looking better, thanks..

well sorry to hear about the problem with chickos! I was involved in a wreck last Thursday. I got the estimate today and it will be around $1800. Lucky the other guys INS. Is covering it. He had a lifted bronco and could not see me when attempting to switch lanes. I hope to be more involved in the future!

Well RoX, we're just glad you're back! Sorry you missed half the summer- the middle half- but there's still lot's of good driving weather left this year. Start pre-mixing on that BN engine.
I've actually been so busy that I only put like 300 miles on my car the whole month of July!

Indeed JT the very same. She's a looker for sure!
I'm always here to help guys, any questions you have I will answer to my best ability, but I will never bullshit you if it's something I don't know. I start school tonight for Auto Tech. I'm pretty stoked about it, so much to learn but oh so worth it.

Veilside is full fiberglass, with our road conditions in some parts of the valley you may want to consider a polyurethane kit which flexes as opposed to cracking.
I saw a grey 8 with the veilside kit on highland and 7200 S. and his was all fuq'd up, I felt sad for his car.

If any locals have trouble with fiberglass or CF after-market kits, let me know. I have 36 years experience in composites and can beef-up any part to eliminate the chance of cracking induced by flexure.
I've also got a spare stock OEM hood if someone ever wants to make me an offer. It's WreakLoosE's old hood.
That stock hood is incredibly light- only about 15 lbs.! I was amazed. Not too many aftermarket hoods are lighter than that.

Hey, do you guys' sunroofs chatter as they slide back? Mine is SO loud. The dealer said nothings wrong and lubed it all up but it didn't even improve. It has grit in it, but it's a lubed track exposed to the air; even if I cleaned it out every day it would still have grit in it. It doesn't sound similar to any of the other sunroof issues I've read about, and I have searched all over this site and couldn't find exactly the right answer. So I think I'll just clean it out real good and maybe try a better lube, what do you guys suggest?
Also, LETS GO TO SEVENSTOCK!!
yeah, I see another RX8 like every day now, it's probably you bose. Silver, pullin into Golds in Sugarhouse a few nights ago and today EB on 2100 S...

I took my 8 to the zoo yesterday, twice, dropping my kid and her friends off and picking them up again later in the day. You may have seen me instead of bose. I was WB on 2100 south but it wasn't me pulling into the gym.
My sunroof never chatters. Solid as a rock in all positions and when in motion.
