Tag cost is based on weight and model year. You might want to investigate what insurance rates will be...only so that it isn't a surprise...high or low from what you are use to paying. I don't recall MadDog's experience, but I came from California and my rates went up...and that's without any history of accidents or tickets.
The state has a rather high DWI rate, hence the high insurance rates.
All that aside this is a really great area to live. I have lived in many parts of the country and I like this area the best. Weather is rather good all year round...never that cold nor that hot for any length of time.

the thing that is crazy in Sante Fe maybe all of NM is that the freaking police lights are red instead of blue, insane. but at least you won't have to worry about crime, Los Alamos police have the sweetest job ever, nothing happens.

I called about getting my Shinka registered in ABQ, they said that based on the price and vehicle year and the fact it was purchased in Colorado it would cost me $1200 for license, title and registration. FWIW
Also wanted to see who I saw in NM this weekend. I saw a Shinka on 17th in the Cherry Hills area of Rio Rancho, and a Blue on I-25 Southbound coming towards Sanata Fe.

I was thinking sales tax, too. I didn't have to pay anything like that when I moved here last year from Fredericksburg. What part of VA are you moving from?

Yeah, I thought so too. I called up 3 different MVD Expresses. 2 of them said $1200. They asked for make and model, and amount paid. I even explained that I bought it in Colorado. No clue, the third said something like $70 dollars. But rather then drive down there and risk paying $1200, I registered it in Colorado for $570...

Don't let your jealousy get the best of you, Kewl. That blowoff valve is the sound you'll hear as I lap you time after time at the track. But don't worry. You won't be hearing it for too long! :p

Well, I think I might have a boost leak somewheres. That and I need to adjust the BOV. This SSQV is a little different. Do you guys have any experience with the HKS SSQV? I could use a hand understanding it! Until these minor things get ironed-out, the boost will stay low. As I gain confidence in the system, the boost will go up. Don't you worry!

Hey Fred, I saw a yellow 8 at work today! Might be only the second yellow in the state! I left a note on their windshield to try to get them involoved. We'll see...
I think that we should have an all-Mazda get together! I know the local Miata guys are pretty active. A couple of them noticed my intercooler and stopped to talk :p We should try to get 7's, 8's and Miata's all together some time. Since you are the local pres., I nomiate you :D to get things started!

Hi evveryone in Albuquerque! I have had my RX8 since August of 04 and Just love it. It is Yellow with a black Bra and the NM plate says "STINGER". I have also seen you entering and or exiting the Eubank gate Bigcat44 or at least I belive it is you. That is if you are a light haired brunette. I just found out about this site today 9-19-05 from another RX8 ower who works out on base and he drives a Titamium Greyone.

Just got my 8 on 9/13/05. 2004, MT6, Touring Package, Black w/ red and black leather. Pretty much every upgrade Mazda offers but the navigation system (waste of money if you ask me). Not exactly a road trip car. So far so good. Love the car but wish I could get a little more power out of them. From reading the forums, most aftermarket mods don't give much of a performace increase short of turbo of course. Guess that just means Mazda did a pretty good job at tuning it at the factory. Probably gonna start with the Revi CAI first then probably a CAT back system. Just wish I could find a sound clip list of everything in one place to compare them all. Just wanted to introduce my car and I'll see everyone else around town. ZOOM ZOOM.

Very nice and love it.
Yeah got it the day after they got on the lot. Went there to get my wife's Escape serviced and was gonna look at a Jeep they had there. Only problem was that the RX-8's were in between the Jeep and the service department. Never actually made it to the Jeep. Looked nice from a distance though. Really wasn't looking to buy anything that day either. Amazing how easily those sales guys can suck you in. Though it probably wasn't too hard since I have been in love with these cars for awhile now. Just that hum the engine makes when you start it is worth the price. Still getting used the higher rpm's this engine operates at though. Get a little nervous sometimes. :o

Yeah, those guys there can be pretty convincing sometimes. The people there are pretty friendly though. (Of course, they're also trying to sell you a car ) And don't mind those high RPM's, this car likes to be revved. I'll give ya a honk if I see ya around town.

Hey Stinger!
That was me, MadDog! I parked right next to you, but I left early to catch a flight. Welcome to the club! I really hope that we can get some of the ABQ 8's that aren't active here to get involved. The 7's have a pretty active club and they are starting to say that the 8 attracts owners that aren't enthusiasts.
Anyhow, glad you found us! I love your car! Pretty gutsy color choice. Too bad they discontinued it....
