No problems. After installing the software, connect to the system and start the car. Verify all the gauges in the display are displaying data and make sure the "load" gauge is showing vac. at idle somwhere between 17-20in at idle. Once the engine is up to temp ~82c then press "o" for options and toggle right to tps_cal. Verify there is an "*" in the lower screen of the virtual handset. The car should run and drive fine on the base map (it is an N/A car). Hope this helps,Scott

alright, the car started fine and runs pretty good. the only thing is.... the hook up that was provided to go form the interceptor to the laptop doesnt have the right connection to my laptop. Do i have to use the black db9 connection given or can i use usb connection?

also, i have a check engine light, will this go out soon?

You need to get a serial to usb convertor. Wal-mart has them for around $20. Unfortunately, the cel does not go away.

This is most likely the only thing holding me back from saving up and purchasing the interceptor !

I don't know about Mac laptops, but not all serial-usb adaptors are the same. The one I bought from Best Buy was useless, but Radio Shack worked fine. I had to find out the hard way and at the time read somewhere on the internet that these adaptors are hit or miss according to computers and the connected devices.

yeah if you have a macbook w/ intel core duo [in which case you must install windows as native OS] which is gross IMO macs are for OSX+ (superior IMO)

or if you are running virtual PC [on older (as in not brand new) macs] which is double gross IMO and something I would never trust to run my car off of

IMO

IMHO

ok preston ?

btw pete dont you have a dell ?????

how is the tuning on the I.X. with that thing ??????????

I imagine the software that ships with the Interceptor X is windows only and that you can either run that and tweak it or be stuck with the base map unless you have a windows based laptop and you can install the tuning software ...

although to be quite honest with you ... I dont think I would like to have any control over my fuel and ignition tuning since I know nothing about the renesis and only about the 13B

perhaps it is best that I own a MAC and cannot mess up my maps

*considers saving for I.X.*

Interceptor Install today

I just had my interceptor installed today ( tHanks Scott) and go back next week for final tuning.
my initial impression is WOW!
The engine just keeps pulling in every gear . I was keeping up with my buddies "z" on the way back home , definately opened his eyes when i went zoom zooming right on past him.

a tuned interceptor is always the best route. john, how is it now that it has been tuned?

this is the way to go if you are going turbo in the future or just want the extra kick in your NA....

Will the maps saved in the interceptor stay there if you totally remove it from the car and reinstall it? I will have to put my 8 in the shop and i will uninstall it but i dont want to lose any of the work done on it.

Yes the maps wil be stored in the Interceptor-X just as you left them I think it's always a good idea to keep a backup copy on your dongle as well. Scott

quick question, I'm watching my intake temps and ever since the intx was installed, the numbers are way off. It looks like the intake temp is about 1/2 actual temp. If this is correct, I'll just take the intake temp * 2 and that way I'll know what I'm looking at.

Just wanted verification.

Can the interceptor-x be used to increase the redline of the automatic transmission 8s from 7500 to 8500 rpm in both the 2004-05 and 2006-7 models?

Yes it can, it is a user definable field up to 16,000rpm (dont try this at home). It also comes with maps that allow you to plug it in and drive right away!
