Slander? Come on guy.. Where did you get this information from? Even Mazsport has said multiple times they have no affiliation with Canzoomer... Now if they really do and thy are lying, it will turn into another Canzoomer situation with everyone thinking it's a joke of a company.

wHERE HAVE THEY SAID THIS ????

In previous posts i have asked IF CZ was involved , so far i have not been given an answer . Why ???? THE answer should be a simple YES OR NO

Whats the big deal in disclosing who is involved if it isnt CZ ??

I'd be more interested in where the "guts" of the unit and the software come from :D

If I had to guess it would be the HKS F Con.

Both are just being released, both have full control but let the factory ECU "think" it is contoling everything, and both are priced similarly.

I'd say the guts are HKS.

I doubt this. HKS is very protective of their software, and only lets authorized dealers use it to tune.

I would gets its either the Microtech (see their site) or the unichip.

Good news is that the F-con is an option now for some folks, and competition is good for the consumer, as are options.

The HKS F-Con uses 32X32 maps. This has 16X16.

If you think 4k+ is cheaper than ~2k, then yes.

Another question about X-interceptor

Q.- X-interceptor will allow (finally) users to tune their cars. As a result the engines will end ud running leaner and therefore the exhaust temperatures will be (far) higher.

Under these circumstances there may be many people considering to remove the cat not just to aliviate exhaust backpressure but also to preserve the cat for future use (i.e. to bring the car to Mazda for maintenance keep the warranty). The point is, can X-interceptor run the car without the cat? would not be any problems with the stock ECU when it sees that the O2 sensors measure the same or are removed?

Cheers

The X-interceptor can run with or without, remember there is alot of custom tweaking you can do, but it shouldn't matter if you have a cat or not.

If your going to run NA, I would get high flow cat for the car. Running Catless is nasty, it smells and in reality, you can get a good HF cat that will flow almost as good as a midpipe, not have you smelling like gas, passing emissions and not having O2 sensor issues.

i believe what he is worried about is not backpressure, but the actual exhaust temperature which if it gets too high from running leaner, then the catalyst may start to degrade and or melt.

Yes, exactly. That is the point. High exhaust temps of a rotary will degrade any catalist from my believe. The stock one would last for a few time.

also, if i remember correctly (at least for the hondas) if you run too rich, you can overwork the catalyst and cause it to degrade as the cat will be trying to break down any unburned fuel to reduce emissions, so running too rich can be a bad thing too

Ok, so theres no cat, but mostly everybody will probably be running a cat......so can anyone give an aproximation to the increase in HP and torque with a cat?? Or will Mazsport eventually run tests with a cat?

People may have a burned-out restrictive hunk of metal attached to their exhaust midpipe -- but I doubt you could still call it a "cat" after running it with the GReddy/Interceptor set-up for very long. The OEM set-up is super rich to preserve the cat -- think what the cat life will be with a leaned out fuel mix tuned to 300whp Not that I care anyway -- I have the high temp/high flow cat already.

Actually Mazda retuned the ECU to meet a more restrictive standard for cat life. Something on the order of 1 million miles I believe. Even leaned out to the edge of reasonable the cat should last at least as long as required under the previous standards for cat life expectancy.

You beat me to it :p

the cat should at least last you for the time most people keep the car. At around 18,000miles/year that's only 180,000miles in 10 years. I believe the cat should last that long even if you run it leaner.

I believe you are off by an order of magnitude. Its my understanding that the mandated lifespan of catalytic converters is proposed at 100,000 miles. In Germany, the mandated life is 80,000 km. AFAIK, there is no regulation in effect regarding mandatory cat life in the US, but there are regulations pending.

The 100k miles mark makes some sense, since CA currently mandates certain parts must last that long, like the timing belt. Of course, what happens (like on the Miata) is that CA owners just get a different service interval recommendation than the rest of the country (who is told to change the belt at 60k).

Cat life is shortened by:
-extremely rich mixtures
-sulfur or other trace chemicals in fuel
-extreme heat

I thought the EPA mandates 120,000 miles.

Maybe that's it (120,000 mi). Its not 1 million miles, although a cat could in theory last that long if you had perfect gas and always ran at stochiometric.
