Finally a plug and play ECU!!!
I believe the InterceptorX doesn't use the MAF anymore but replaces with a MAP -- much preferred by tuners.
Lock & Load -- I think you are wrong about GReddy owners with tuned eManage -- many of use will buy the InterceptorX because no matter how much time you spend tuning the dam thing -- it just can't keep the ECU from adjusting itself out of desired range
I can't believe the guy was pinging with no CEL -- you may have had the countermeasures activate (system retard/shutdown) and gotten teh CEL. I have had that happen a number for times when I had a CZ unit -- but can't believe it actually pinged without CEL.

I completely agree with that statement. Most of us are waiting on other peoples opinions of the product until we make our purchase. The problem with this is that since the price is out of most peoples range for a product, it will be some time until we start to hear peoples impressions of the unit.
Too bad they didnt offer this product to someone local on the board to start the hype for both a N/A car and a turbo car. That would completely start a whirlwind of discussion about their product and I would suspect that the list of people purchasing the product would grow to 25 in a hurry...
People on this board love other members input on a product. Thats what this board is all about.. Other peoples opinions and impressions of a product.
This unit will work no problems. It is based around a proven Microtech ECU, not a interceptor like the others. It is a shame that they called it an interceptor.
It has full control of the injectors and the ignition, unlike the others which are trying to fool the ecu's sensors.
I have been using Microtech ECU's for years on rotaries and I find them great.
It does seem expensive at first but you need factor in that it is plug and play and has a base map that should work. This doesnt appear to be an of the shelf Microtech, but a special version which has to be dearer.
All of the Microtechs I have fitted have ran well on the supplied base map. Normally they run better than the factory ecu straight away.
Im keen to find out how they perform NA too.
We make good stuff in Australia dont we

i am second on the list for the interceptor-x from mazsport. I got on this post and gave my impressions. I have been on these forums for at least a year or longer, and i see a lot of people who have hundreds of posts because they post irrelevant info. I only post if i have something to say and usually its important. :p :p . I posted after i drove his first test vehicle and gave my impressions, then i posted after i drove my own car with the interceptor-x on sunday and gave my impressions. Who do you want the info from the president of mazda :D :D :D
Yes.. I remember that when you posted your impressions, but that is a far cry from someone having it on their car and being able to drive it every single day. In good and bad traffic, different weather conditions.. etc...

If you dont agree with that then we can at least agree that the Interceptor-X is far superior to the CZ unit and I am sure that in due time it will prove itself and anyone who is concerned about having the most performance from their car will purchase one at that time.

The first car with the Interceptor on has something like 3000 trouble free miles on it so far, IIRC. And believe me I'd much rather be driving my car and raving about it (cuz I know I will be) than in this stupid place.

How do you tune the maps? While on the dyno, what are we looking for? Should we have a new bung burned into the midpipe and use an aftermarket wide band? Are we tuing Lambda?
Is this as simple as adding/deleting fuel per RPM? What about the timing and the split timing?
I need to know how the tuning is accomplished before I spend. Money is not the hurdle here, it is the confidence in our tuning community with such a new product.

I wasn't suggesting that the unit not be fine tuned. Just that in my experience the supplied maps with the Microtechs have been very good. Definitely on the safe side of things.
Im not sure the CEL flashing because it detects pinging is to much of an issue either. Actually its nice to have a visual indictaion of this I suppose but knock sensors have a bad reputation of false triggering anyway.
The Microtech can easily have timing added or subtracted in its boost maps or air temp correction maps so once its tuned for higher boost it should be fine anyway.

I am just seriously excited about having an ecu that the stock crap system can't screw up for me, oh and I get to keep ABS, TCS, and every other amenity other than knock sensing.... it is as if Jesus himself came down and presented me with a holy ecu and said, "Go forth and wreak havoc on all the non-rotary heathens!"
The last 10% is where the skill and experience come into play. It is literally just as simple as adding/subtracting fuel at a particluar spot in the rpm/load range. Timing can also be done just as easy as well as split. The process is basically the same.

This to me sounds like an impossible task to accomplish. There are hundreds of points for throttle position, load and rpm... How can someone possibly take all of these points into account and come up with a great tune accross the board.
The only way that I can see possible is that you tune for one point on the grid and the other points are predetermined by throttle posistion, adding and subtracting fuel in proportion with the throttle...
