I got myself some new belt and thermostat, planning to install everything with the new pump tomorrow morning.

Question about the drive belts.

in the manual, they have something to test the *belt tension*, well I dont have that, dont even know wth its called. anyway, Do I just torque everything back to the spec and it will be fine ? Or do I really need to get that *check belt tension* thing to get an accurate read ?

Im going to do a long trip Late Friday night or Early Saturday, its not going to be fun if the new belt loose/break on the highway.

no need. it comes with good instructions and its also VERY self explanatory once you open the hood.

The pump was *extremely* easy to install, maybe 3 hours (taking my time), while the battery box and intake was *out*, I was like hmm, why not install the water temp sesnor with the silicone hose to the upper radiator ?

then I spent another 2 hours just to try to *squeeze* the Silicone hose into the Greddy Water Adapter, god damn Silicone hose. Sensor has been installed but not the gauge because then I do the Corksport kit to install the NAV ...

Put about 2 gallons of coolant in, run the engine for a bit, dont need to add any, I'll just run it a few more days just to be *safe*.

I love the pump man. now I have no fear of constant 9K rpm

 

If I send you a FD pump will you modifiy it ?

You can just follow the service manual's guideline.

Basically

Take the battery box out, Take the intake out, Loose the drive belt, take the water pump pulley out. then u can take the water pump out.

 

A good rule of thumb is the 90 degree twist. Twist the belt by hand. if it can twist past 90 then it is too lose. If it will not go to 90 then it is too tight. You want it to just barely hit the 90 degree angle, then you have a decent none belt breaking or none bearing wearing tension.

 

the Drive belt has no problem, I just tighten it back to where it *was*, and it works like a charm. (twisted and yes its good, everything in factory torque spec)

Its just the A/C belt, I dont remember where it was (forgot to put a mark), but I think it was way to tight so I loose it up even more yesterday. now I gotta say I can twist it with my hand to about maybe 70-80 degrees. maybe I should loose it a little more.

 

Oh yeas... the famous mark... When I replaced my shot pump on the s/c install... Cam reminded me right as I was about to commit the same pulley crime. I did get it marked though! I may loosen it just a bit more as to tight will kill bearings and the belt for sure. Firm but flexible is what ya want, just enough to not slip under load.
