The fourth and last installment of the current series is Wednesday.
There is no plan for another session unless there is a demand for it.

Try reversing that as I doubt I'm really at 10000 rpm rather than 9000 when on the OE rev limiter and it reads 9500

^^^^ Agreed, so just for the record....

I've been watching mine more closely since the seminar ....

My tach is about 300-500 above what the cobb is reading.

I guess the point here is .... the OE Tach is not very accurate.

Pretty much.
Just get another 5 or 6 people to demand it at the same time.

Still looking for the invite for tonight...

And just saw that Cobb has discontinued the AP.

They didn't give those new less-insane prices long enough to work. Guess now we know they are closeout prices. What are we going to tune with when they are gone? Wonder if they would sell their RX-8 data and toolkit to anybody else so it just doesn't sit in their company doing nothing.

Hello. I'm new here, I had a COBB AP on my '06 WRX Cobb Stage III, is there much more power available with just the AP on a otherwise stock '10 RX8 manual ?

Thank you bse50. When was it changed and what is the difference ?

I'm here to find out more out more about RX8s, I am considering a '10 or '11 R3 or GT manual. I have not owned a rotory engined car previously and have a lot to learn.

There's a thread that lists a great part of the changes between the s1 and the s2(my09 and on) rx8s in the dedicated s2 forums. You may start from there!
To help you: different ecus and little interest in making a version for the very small market of the s2

Thank you. I am not planning many mods, but something as simple as an access port would be cool. I like working on cars, not that I do that often anymore, but I do not want to endanger my warranty.

There's a cheap and easy 320HP/400LB/FT flash for my AERO(395HP/450LB/FT with turbo swap for under $2grand) but I have not done it to avoid warranty issues.

The first thing I usually do is brakes. It looks like the RX8s have very good brakes so I am not planning that to be an issue, my Aero has nice big brakes too(12.2in front rotors), which is good because it can quickly get to 150+mph and can cruise there like a private jet all day long, the highway acceleration is awesome. I still did EBC Yellowstuff pads and Motul DOT4 fluid recently, because I will often brake the car hard repeatedly from triple digit speeds.

I am interested in buying an RX8 mostly because of the driving dynamics of the chassis, and enticing high revving and wonderful sounding motor, and nice gearbox, nice interior, and still actually having rear seats and some luggage room.

Wow
Just finished the 4th web training session last night and now I'm ready to sign up for the next 4 sessions MM Advanced Tuning seminars.

Absolutely the best money I've spent in a long time. Not only does this assist you in understanding your RX8 its a knowledge that applicable cross platform. So what this means is you could walk away from your RX8 and still take the general knowledge to your next vehicle.

If you are at all interested in learning tuning from a Professional, get a glimpse at their personal experiences this is a must do course.

I feel extra lucky as Jeff is going to be in my crib July 17 for a dyno event.
FIELD TRIP!!!!

That's right, hands on experience.

I have one caveat ...
To get the most out of the course it really behooves you to some prep work.
While I'm not suggestion that Jeff create his own documentation it would be nice if he gave some reading recommendations in the First Post.

I read Engine Management Advanced Tuning by Greg Banish and having a copy of Street Rotary by Mark Warner helps as well...

Jeff, question for you:
Have you considered doing sessions such as this but on a one on one basis? If you have, is there a pricing available.
With the wireless internet being so widely available, have you ever considered doing tuning via a proxy? IE) I'm physically at the shop doing the tuning on my car while you assist remotely via Web Cam and a Remote desktop session to the laptop?

I have contemplated doing the seminar as a sort of "Dyno Day", either with a group of people or one-on-one.
I haven't really sat down and crunched the numbers, yet.

I've done this and it can be done, but it still depends on the capabilities of the guy at the other end.
I've set-up a DimDim thing like the seminar, but with a Grand Am team at the other end and I provided tuning electronically as they ran their car on the dyno in real time.
I've actually contemplated doing some dyno days this way, but I like to travel and I like to see the faces of my customers, so that method might not be all that rewarding in the long run.

Copies of the seminar are fine - for participants!

You have the Warner book, so I recommend the two Hartman books.

I am so efen annoyed. Race (non pro) has a fraction of the tables we reviewed and the most annoying part is that it doesn't have ANY of the speed limiter ones Jeff showed us for the 4AT.

My race version is from January 1.8.0.0.11359 build date 9.15.2009 I just filled out the request form to see if there's a newer version out there but I think it's pretty chicken **** of them to be discontinuing the line and gimping the consumer like this.

Yeah, Access Tuner Race... not Pro Tuner (which has the speed limiter tables) --- I jumped up quite a few versions and some of the tables are still missing... I'm really hoping they released an update after January as that is what I upgraded to tonight.

Thanks Jeff but I need the 2004 AT version. Lemme snapshot my VM... perhaps I can load AT maps in it.
