New MazdaManiac BASE Calibrations
I'm going to have to get my car re-inspected in May. They're a real bitch around here when it comes to emissions, so I'm going to put my cat back on and uninstall the AP. How long should I drive it around before everything is re-learned so that it doesn't trigger anything when I go to inspection?
Once again - there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to uninstall the AP.
You can do so if you desire, but it is just a waste of time (and could potentially cause you to fail the test).
Unless you have an actual mechanical issue like Shaun's (which has been, so far, totally unique), a few days of normal driving around on an AP reflash is all you need to pass smog.

Well, then hopefully it will fail!
Sounds like a plan. I look forward to it.

Nah. They always stink, even when they are bone stock.

Jeff, any problems with the italian that recently forwarded his logs?
I'm talking about Francesco, the guy that had compatibility issues with his Ecu and then had to leave for work before getting the unit back from cobb repaired.
Thank you!

I sent him an updated calibration.
Nope, his name is Francesco Pace.
He's one of the two folks that had communication error because of their "pre-production" PCMs.
Thanks for the help anyway, i'm always sorry to contact you for this matters.

bse50, my issues were problems with my hardware. ECU and ASBS & PKM modules failed in a chain. That was not MM's fault...it was the dealership's.

It's not MM's fault in this case either and i must say that Cobb did a very good job in offering a solution!
Dumb question of the day MM, but do the custom tunes maintain the Mazda ECU codes for - EMISSION RECALL 4206F and MAZDA SPECIAL PROGRAM (MSP16) – ENGINE LACK OF POWER ?
I would presume yes, but enquiring minds want to know. TIA

I'm not sure which codes those would be, but if I were taking my RX-8 in for that TSB, I'd just uninstall the AP.
If your AP is installed, the MAzda dealer won't be able to hook up to your PCM.
Now, if you are just talking about the base fuel/ignition mapping that is part of the flash that was part of that TSB, then yes - the essential "base" calibration that all AP calibrations start with is a flash which is post MSP16.
