New MazdaManiac BASE Calibrations
Greg -
I hate to make an example of you, but what do the instructions say?
On the base calibration (v4.0), take the two logs (idle and cruise), answer the questions send it all in with the copy of v4.0 that you downloaded and wait.
When you get v4.0.1 in the e-mail, up load it to the PCM and go on to the second part of the instructions where it says "INSTRUCTIONS FOR USERS ON VERSIONS v4.0.1 AND HIGHER".
That is it.

you should have been fine gregs, I had my wideband, and the AP plugged in and a co-pilot to watch AFR's during my base logs. Under any sort of load I never had anything more lean than 11.4. Under all boost it was deadlocked at 11. Not sure if it was richer and the AP couldent read it.
Regaurdless, i took it to WOT gently since the AFR didnt budge away from 11 at any sort of manifold pressure. Jeffs base map looks damn near "dummy proof"
God knows I had to be that dummie that tested how much boost i could get on the base map before it got dangerous. least I was actually watching my AFRs...
PS just got your confirmation jeff, i cant wait!!! hopefully its all squared away before the snow falls in november!

MM, were you able to locate the tune for my car? Also, is it safe to track the car with your base tune? Meaning is that tune setup just for logging data or is it viable to street and track use? I have an event coming up on sept 5th at the milwaukee mile I am participating in.

I don't keep copies of the tunes. This is why I have people send in their most current calibration along with their submissions.
As I pointed out earlier, it is not possible that the calibration was not in your AccessPORT, if it was installed - unless you deleted it yourself.
If it was in the “current map” listing, it was on the AccessPORT.
All you had to do was transfer it to the PC with the AP Manager.
The base N/A calibrations are essentially stock as far as fueling and ignition goes. Some people find it works great, others do not. It won't hurt anything, though.
I sent you an e-mail on the 19th. I'll reiterate here:

How do you do it?
Most of my e-mail gets filtered by Hund. I don't even want to ask how many get kicked back that way.
About 30 to 50 come my way and I spend about 3 hours a day on that.
I do about 20 or 30 calibrations a day, which takes another 5 hours.
I spend quite a bit of time every day in some sort of R&D and fabrication and reading/writing technical guides for tuning and the AccessPORT.
7 days a week.
This is a hobby. lol

Which is why I was so persistent about the uninstall procedure. I wanted to be 100% sure the uninstall would backup the map. You said it would. It didn't. I'm now without a map.
I would like you to create another tune because of the oil metering values and the nice mpg I was getting, but since my car is close to stock is my only option the $299 service fee?

I have heard rumours that on a diet of hotwings and beer, man only needs 3 hours of sleep each day. those two food items unlocks secret man energy that normally would not be ingested otherwise. Plus it has the added side effect of growing more facial hair and deepening the voice.

That is some dedication! I thought this is what you did for a living! I cant imagine doing that all day as a hobby and most of the calibrations you do are free.
I know you must be getting some kind of kickback from COBB for reselling them if not then your just crazy lol
Unfortunately, its not a lot because I don't keep an inventory and order in large enough quantities to make the larger wholesale margin.
Hey you never know COBB could get like a deal with a manufacturing company and sell them for $400. Everyone would buy them, then you could start a huge business in custom maps for the world famous COBB. The COBB can now be used on any vehicle, then you would make your business into a huge corporation and call it MazManiac Inc (cause you can't use mazda). You will be CEO and hire other people to do the custom tunes. Since you trained the first people you hired and in turn they trained the people that they hired you would open up shops all around the united states as special tune shops. You can go and get your car tuned at these shops and you could ask for the famous Jeff Mazda-Maniac tune (since you trained all the people to tune like you) and you would be able to buy the cobbs on the spot there and there will be a wall in the stores displaying the COBBs and what they can do and how they can delete cell lights (OMG YESSSS) and then when your profit margins are super huge you can throw some money to R&D and start research on your own COBB. You call it the Jeff Maniac and then you would be rich and buy everyone on the forum new RX8's and then you remember a post by this dude name Juansito and since he figured out your life for you he gets one first

BUTTTT since that probably wont happen all i want is a nice tune
They are eliminating the dongle and integrating that part into the AP itself.
The OBD-II cable is a molded unit with some sort of proprietary connector on the AP side.
Just looks like a Molex to me, but I don't know the pin-out.
Probably pretty easy to clone.
