Everybody should also make sure they're on the newest firmware.

Abso-freaking-lutely.

The last firmware had a pretty nasty bug that ate the AccessPORT's brain.
Seriously.

Will the firmware updates work fine with your base maps? I'm still running on a base map as I'm in the queue for an updated map. If so, I'll plug my AP in today and make sure I'm up to date.

Sorry in advance about not wanting to scroll through 5166 posts for this but, do people who have used the Cobb stage 1 software upgrade feel its been worthwhile? I've used Cobb on my Subarus with very good experiences, but I wonder how much difference there is on a normally aspirated engine.

Thanks.

The Cobb Stage 1 is a very general and conservative tune.. you won't gain much if any from it.

It -does- do some leaning out though..

It should however make the power delivery smoother because Cobb spent a lot of development time getting rid of those two dips in the power band where our intricate intake system opens up for more breathing.

Look at how much smoother the Cobb graph is...

I would take that dynograph with a grain of salt. That tune is designed for a general car application and not tailored to your specific vehicle. The best gains will only be seen with personal tuning for your car.

I installed the Stage 1 tuning map once when my MM tune was a tad too lean. Never again. After driving around with it for some days I was going to try flooring it a bit, had my AP connected, but I saw the numbers bouncing over 16 on WOT and pulled over quite quickly and went back to a sane map :P

Hi,

Any Euro users installed their AP's yet and did you have any issues? I have two issues:

when trying to update the AP firmware with the updater I get the message that I am on the latest firmware and no update is necessary, however the firmware version displayed appears to be lower (older) that the one Jeff says is latest in the first post

When I select Install from the menu with the key in the On position, I get the error "Unsupported vehicle. This version of the AP does not support your current vehicle", something like that. I tried several times, verified the cables etc etc same thing every time.

PS: how do you update the firmware for the dongle?

i got a Fatal Error.. now my AP is unusable.

ugh.

i didn't upgrade the firmware or anything.... i turned the car off.. unplugged it.. then a few hours later I plug it in and this is what i get..

Jeff.. it says I need an invoice to make a claim for warranty repair.. so do I go through you about it or call Cobb directly?

I have. Have you ensured that you're up-to-date with the latest beta firmware as specified by Jeff:

European, Australian and Asian Market Users:

Please be sure to download the "BETA" version of the firmware to ensure your models are supported.
Go to your AccessPORT updater software. Go to the “Tools” drop down menu and make sure the “beta” firmware options are checked.
Restart the updated and then connect your AccessPORT.

well I was using the firmware before the "LAST" that Jeff refers to in his post.

so 3 or so firmwares went by without me upgrading.

Just to make sure, plug your AccessPort into the car and go to the AccessPort tab. Does it give you the following information?

Firmware: v1.3.2.0-8841
Dongle Info: v0.47

If yes and it still doesn't work, then you'll probably need to query it with Jeff. If you can't even connect it to car at all, check it via connecting to the PC. When I first connected the AccessPort to my car, it updated the dongle and then I was able to choose Install for the EUDM map. It specified that my car is a EUDM 2005-2008 RX-8, which is right as mine is a UK-spec 2007 model.

Thanks Kay... I have the latest firmware. Looks like my particular car ROM is not supported yet, hopefully they will have a firmware update for it soon.
