Sorry about that. Apparently there was a power outtage last Thursday while I was out of town. The servers drained out the UPS' batteries after an hour or so. I fired everything back up yesterday.

Jenkins - can I ask a favor? Can I use Amber's truck to carry the drinks and some prizes? I can fit some, but not all of the prizes and then there's no way I can fit all of the drinks. If it's cool, we'll talk details Friday night.

Me and Brillo may choose to come up Friday night depending on if we are going to get hit by the hurricane on Saturday or not. Might need to find a place to stay for the night. Won't know until then.

 

Speaking of Hurricane.. have you guys scheduled a rain date or alternate location.

If Galveston/Houston gets the Hurricane you guys might get a couple inches of rain.

Thanks Killjoy. No, no alternate plans have been made. All weather tracks (and believe me, I've been watching ALL of them) show Rita to make landfall on Sat morning. Our local forecast calls for 30% chance of rain, but I think that's if the storm makes its way inland. There is a pavilion, but I don't think all 177 people can fit under it at the same time. We'll talk about that at our meet tonight.

My roommate and I may also be hosting some family/friends from that area if they choose to evacuate. We'll see......

RotaryGod - the rates for the hotel rooms are good for up to 2 days before or 2 days after.

 

I say we got a 20 - 30% chance.....but it is Texas and could change....

 

^^ that's what I was thinking. If we get any rain that day, it'll be closer to the end of the BBQ, especially since it won't make landfall until that morning. At least that's of this morning. It's too early to tell really... lemme marinate on it (but my gut is telling me the BBQ is on rain or shine...)

I doubt it becomes a factor. How strong is this hurricane? It may not even make it all the way to Dallas. Just in case... i'll bring 2 umbrellas.

Since the BBQ is Saturday, I don't think there will be any rain issues in Dallas. If there are they will be scattered showers from the extreme outer rain bands of the storm. Sunday should be a bad day though. The worst will be for those of us who are planning to drive there and back from Houston during the hurricane.

 

Rita was designated a Cat 2 at 12:15 CST.

Expected to easily grow to a 3 before Wednesday PM.
