Question Quad State Meet?????

Just thought I'd post to see if there's anyone on here daring enough to try and plan a Quad state (TX, LA, OK, AR) meet for the RX8 and RX7 groups together -maybe in the fall. It wouldn't be fun to plan (I'm sure) , but it would be LOTS of fun for everyone attending! :D

What do y'all think?! Anyone..... anyone.....

YES YES YES! OKC BBQ was a blast and I think we could get a similar size crowd if we did it here. It's not a far drive from Austin, Houston, Shreveport, or (insert city in Arkansas :D ) I'll help out in the planning!! And I'm sure Apneablue would be willing to share his secrets to success.

Planning is the easy part.. participation is the hard part.. I'm down if people want to come to H-Town.

I have plenty of resources to make it happen.

^^^ agree. Would be tough to get enough people to commit. Would suck to put forth all the prep effort for no one to show up.

Apneablue was expecting 50 cars (registered) to show up at the OKC BBQ and only 35 actually showed. That's really not a bad percentage.

Sounds interesting to me. I shouldn't have missed OKC. Houston would be a bit far for a "quad state" meeting.

I did some quick research and here are some numbers on the distances to Houston vs. OKC.

Houston to OKC - 460 vs. OKC to Houston - 460 = wash
DFW to OKC - 210 vs. DFW to Houston - 250 = 40 miles more to Houston
Little Rock to OKC - 340 vs. Little Rock to Houston - 430 = 90 miles more to Houston
San Antonio to OKC - 480 vs. San Antonio to Houston - 200 = 280 miles of savings
Austin to OKC - 390 vs. Austin to Houston - 160 = 230 miles of savings
Shreveport to OKC - 390 vs. Shreveport to Houston - 410 = 20 miles more to Houston
New Orleans to OKC - 720 vs. New Orleans to Houston - 350 = 370 miles of savings :D

Thoughts?

Consider that Austin, DFW, New Orleans I know have organized club structures.

Other than the guys in OKC everyone is within 400 miles. Heck even the Dallas guys don't really have much of a distance change.

note: I am not knocking the location in OKC, however I am stating that the travel excuses really are irrelevant for anyone except the guys in OKC or Little Rock.

Another thing.. if you guys want to make a two day event out of it I can handle a scenic/twisties drive on one day and a trip to the beach on the second day?

(something noone else can offer :P)

My feelings are hurt KillJoy.... you forgot Monroe, LA to Houston. And Tulsa to Houston - those guys have expressed interest in a meet in the DFW area.

I've asked David (Apneablue) and the other guys in OK to check out this post and give us their opinions. I don't know anyone in Arkansas....

True, but do you have a leader who can organize it all. That is the question you have to ask yourself.

No offense or disrespect for any of the DFW peeps, but I have never seen a clear cut leader emerge form the DFW area in the 8 years i have been playing with RX'es.

That location looks nice. We would need to drive by and scope out the parking situation. We need a picnic area that's close to the parking lot since the BBQ is revolving around the cars.

Yes... I need some help. What else is new? Does this mean you're volunteering? :D
