OKC Metro roll call. Who's out there?
srry to hear about ur gdad and ya iv seen the sign, i get alot of running in for airforce so i see alot of town all the time, the white rx8 is prestine it is flawless and a crazy insane nice. i like the little town iv always grown up in little towns so its nice. if u ever come rolling thru again give me a heads up and we can chill
IFO Noble, didnt see anyone from last year! where was everyone? finally finsihed my car enough to get it in the show, and none of the last years competition showed up!? i know i cant beat out Nguygen's 3rd Gen for Mazda, but is always nice to see what else he has done to it. maybe i can make it to Tulsa's IFO and see it there. that is if they are having one there????
as for the show: crazy number of imports! funny no skylines, R33 or any of those there this year, heard something about a big crackdown on special imports. but a lot of nice cars regardless.....
got lucky and won best display, as well as best mazda! defending my title for the display trophy two years in a row, and now winning 1st in Mazda class. i was the only rx-8 in the show, dangit!

wow congrats on the win and u have an amazing set up if its like last years my wife loved ur car, ur display is great and ur car being a dd is even cooler so im very happy u won all of the awards!
Thanks!
i have changed alot of things in the car, more subs, pioneer deck, added a battery and isolation switch, Mazsport ignition, msd wires. Now working on a motor upgrade to an RE or REW, depends on what i find.
i figured that the cost of the SC of $7K or the turbo upgrade is about the same i would spend on a motor and changeover to the RE or REW. plus, my rotary guru friend can build it to get 380 NA, running dual webers!
then unfortunatlely it will probably quit being a daily driver as much. depends on how the motor swap would go and how load it would be with the porting he does.
we will just have to wait and see. a winter/next year project for sure.

Tom congrats on the win. I hope you make it to Tulsa. I will be competing next year. I am having my car painted over the winter months. I find it interesting that you are consider an engine swap. I have been thinking the same thing, but I want to stay fuel injected. I've been looking into a periphial ported twin turbo swap, but will prob just run a MM upgraded turbo. I'm purchasing a different dd this fall, as my car is not driveable in the winter. I look forward to seeing what you decide.
i definitely am going to have to step it up enginewise if im going to compete all the way around. the bolt ons are just not enough to take it without question. at IFO a honda fit beat me, but had a wire tuck and bad A engine. the rest of the car was not impressive to me, had a prefab box for the subs and not much ICE. but hey, he won none the less.
the more i look at my engine bay, the more I want to do the wire tuck and engine swap. get rid of the ABS module, the smog blower stuff and depending upon the difficulty may relocate the fuse and computer boxes!
then rip out all of the insulation and make it look clean.
i dont want to spend the $K to just bolt on a supercharger, when i go with the WOW factor of the 13B RE or REW swap NA for alot less and still get the HP i want for a daily driver.
a little here and a little there is all i can do. save up and do the swap.

so anyone in the okc area have a nice short shifter I could possibly take around the block to see if i want to buy one or not? I had one in my 240 before I sold and loved it, but I don't know if I want one in the 8 or not
ok so maybe im going out on a limb but im really thinking i can throw together a pretty good meet. im right inbetween okc and tulsa and we could do a meet in either chandler or stroud im thinkin the lake or where they do auto cross at, not sure on spot but maybe we could do it one sunday? my dad is a great cook and has a pull behind smoker and would cook for us im pretty sure. anyone want to get a meet together my buddys wanting to invite the bmw club as hes a bmw owner and forum member. i have no problem with it but im going to go scout places and get some ideas going anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks for the help offer! will definitely consider it if it gets to be a big job.
im fortunate to live pretty close to my Rotary Guru who has a nice shop, so as far as the engine work goes, he will be doing the rebuild, with me learning all that i can without getting in the way.
He is pretty cool about that.
I am also getting a few things ready for paint and repaints. redoing the light plate in my trunk lid as well as painting a few things black on my bike.
on another radical note, while working on my bike, i have thought about building a rotary motorcycle!
simmer on that one for a bit!
let me know what you guys think, i think it would be BAD A' to pull a 13B NA bike behind my rx-8!

Who's your rotary guy? I was planning on turboing my car until my engine blew NA the first time and Mazda replaced it. Now that I'm at 60k miles, I figure I can wait till I hit 100k and look at doing an engine swap.

Looks like another event is scheduled for the 18th of September with the regional mazda clubs. I say we all get together and add some rotary flair to the whole event. You can read the thread here. As always, you guys know I'm down. Anyone else have some thoughts? We really need to get together and do something. Discuss.

Anyone up for a meet this weekend somewhere? Maybe do like a barbeque or something.
Let me know, I can scout somewhere today and tomorrow for like Sunday afternoon in OKC.
