OKC Metro roll call. Who's out there?
Hey Jim!
IFO cancelled as you all may know. it is rescheduled for June 13th i believe according to the race track website.
good thing though for me, car is still not ready. putting in the 4 -10" subs has been a chore!
will post pics soon.
laid some more carbon fiber and cleared it. painted the fiberglass boxes gloss black and clear coated. installed the deck using the metra kit.
AND then BAM! plugs fouled! ignition coil on the trailing #2 rotor went out. upgrading to the mazsport solution kit from a guy off the forum and installing new plugs. we'll see how it goes. for now, i'm riding my motorcycle.

Tom - I will probably be able to make it out since they moved the date. Glad it will give you more time to finish your stereo. I think that will be my next mod. Without going fi, I've pretty much done most if the na mods. Still need injectors, but not a priority. Hope the ignition works for you. I really like my BHR ignition. It is like night and day difference.
the mazsport ignition is off the hook! i noticed a quicker climb in the rpms through the first 3 gears and the motor and exhaust sound different.
maybe it is just me. but the exhausts sounds different at the rear.
anyways, the install took me a while, but the guy sent me the instructions with the kit. took me about 4 hours by myself.
broke one of the adapter coil connector wires and ate about an hours time fixing that with the solder iron and needle nose. must be special tool to get those things apart and clamped together. live and learn.
the new bracket and coil pack look awesome setting up under the intake and it came with race Morroso wires.
i would have liked to gone with the BHR solution, but couldnt pass up the good deal at $220.
now back to the stereo... and the many hours of work left.

oh forgot to mention, i have been trying to learn how to paint. had some friends show me the basics and have laid down some Mazda Jet Black on the enclosures for the subs, all my door handle surrounds and other small parts. the clear coat really sets off the color and shine.
i have also had help in airbrushing the edges of my hood and color clearing the hood for a cleaner look. when you stand to the side or front of the hood, it looks black until you get right up on it. we did that by airbrushing and fading it from front to back and around the vents. the carbon fiber looks awesome and clean. i shouldnt have to worry about it turning yellow or foggy white now with the new clear. also re did the dash cluster CF cover, airbrushed its
edges black and cleared it as well. the buffing and polishing took the longest.

I bet that really make the flow into the carbon fiber so clean. Can't wait to see it. Unfortunately I can't make IFO this year. I blew a coolant seal at the Texas8 and am having to rebuild my engine. So, take lots of pictures.
Hello i'm new to the forum. I just bought an Rx8 about a month ago and absolutely love the car. I have been trying to read up on it as much as possible! I'm in NW OKC!

Well fellas, my 8 is now for sale. Let your buddies know there is an 05 GT for sale in Edmond for 15k. Gotta move on from the 8 and be a "responsible father". Let me know if you guys are interested or know anyone who might be. I wont actually be prepared to sell it until mid-june so I have time to get it all prettied up. I may be willing to part with some of my aftermarket parts, but most of them will require the stock replacement.

You wanna part out your clear corners? I'll trade you my stock and some cash for yours.
BTW, There is an autocross in Tulsa this sunday, pm me for more information. The 30th there is an autocross at the sheriffs track in midwest city. again, pm for more info.

Well my 8 got completely trashed in the hail storm that went through town yesterday. Anyone have a recommendation for the best body shop in the OKC metro area? I am also going to need a side mirror as mine got cracked and another taillight as it was cracked too. Gotta see the insurance man in the morning and I've never been through this before so any tips would be appreciated.

Ouch. So.... one year to the day when I got backed into in a parking lot... I get backed into again. $2k in damage, have to replace the rear driver's side door and pull the front door. May just go ahead and get all the imperfections fixed and get it repainted. Anyone know if you can do that on the insurance companies dime if you just pay your deductable? Ill post pictures so you can all cry with me later. Figures, I decide to keep the damn thing and someone f$@ks it up. We really ought to get a meet set up during the summer. Its been too long since we have all congragated. Plus we could have a barbeque or something in celebration of me finishing grad school in August. Hopefully the pearl will be fixed by then. Pics to come soon.
I'm in need of some advice. I just returned from a local dealership with a list of "issues" with my 8.
First off i took my 8 in b/c i suspected a worn bearing on the passenger side. The symptom i have been having is a vibration that is most noticeable at 60-70 mph.
Anyways i do have a rt rear bearing that is worn but the tech also found excess play in my drive shaft and says that i probably need a new rear differential assembly ($1639.12) and possibly a driveshaft ($1432.48).
I have an extended powertrain warranty but they will not pay until the differential is taken apart and its proven to be defective.
Is it common to have these issues at 90,000 miles? Is it more likely to be a deffective differential or just normal wear and tear?
I have had the car for 2 months and the previous 2 owners did their scheduled maintence but i found the front passenger side rim has been welded like its been cracked or somethig.
Is it possible that a previous owner lost control of the car and hit a curb or somthing that could have damaged the differential?
Also is it possible for someone like me with limited mechanical experience (i have replaced half shafts before) to replace the differential on my own? Is it extremely complicated or time consuming?
Thanks for your help!

The white one is near where my mom grew up. Actually, I guess the whole town is.
We were there for my granddad's funeral. Ever seen a metal sign on, um, Main Street, that's concreted to the wall reading "Doctor Raymond Pruitt"? That's Gdad. His office was upstairs from there. He hasn't been in that office in 60 years. Chandler's a neat place. I've only been a few times.
