I believe the warranty is extended to like 60k miles for everyone ... i think anyways. Mazda sent out a letter letting people know the extended period.

DUH!!!! I drew a complete blank there for a second. I didn't go last year but I did attend the concert. Good luck!

04-06 models have the extended warranty. I think

Disconnect the battery for a few minutes or pull the "Room" fuse. Afterwards I would recommend you tap the brake pedal 20 times or until you see the oil gauge sweep. That should clear everything.

another silly question that I am sure the search function could do for me. What is a CEL and what are the advantages of clearing/reseting. How do you know you have a CEL. thanks for your uber knowledge.

Check Engine Light

On these new fangled cars, anything sets them off. It's like the dealer's Bat-signal.

Its an annoying "engine" icon light that turns on when the PCM notices something wrong.

In my case because I run a midpipe my PCM was throwing a CEL because it figured out that the CAT is missing. I said "was" because it strangely enough turned off yesterday. Not sure what is going on yet with that.

I also noticed a strange metallic rattle sound this morning. It's not the normal bearing rattle as the clutch has nothing to do with it. I thought it might have been my WBO2 bung popping off again, but I checked it (burned my finger in the process) and its still tight.

I'm going to get the car up on some stands and figure out wtf is going on...

I need to get the CAT back in the car so I can take it to the dealer anyway...

welp, pretty sure I'm not making the car show this year, guy has 2 cars he has to work on in the next 2 weeks, there's at least a week of work to do on mine and we haven't even started nor can we since the car is tied up getting a new engine right now. I waited all year for this, have a nice new paint job, new wheels, I'll have a semi new engine bay and would have had some interior work done and everything ready for giving a run at a trophy. Well as it stands now, no show, no car, I even lost my spot in the booth due to the other 2 cars anyway and it just sounds like nobody wants me there or even gives a ****. Even if I did all the work myself there's just not enough time, oh well, sorry about the whining, had to vent etc. as I was really looking forward to this event and my car being done etc. Maybe next time things will turn out better, for now i'm off to go find a hole and bury my frustrated head in it

edit: got the car back today already and low and behold, I now have a new rock chip in what was once my perfect bumper, and it still idles like ****, at least it's not dying any more though. omg I'm so ******* upset right now, the idea of buying something new to start over with is really really tempting me now.

Dude...that sucks...

If we can meet up I'll be happy to check out the idle issue...see if its something obvious. Totally blows that your plans got ruined...hate it when you work hard towards something only to not be able to do it...No worries tho...

I think it's motor mounts, car is running 100% better, just shivering like a chihuaha at the stop lights, after thinking it over I probably shouldn't be so upset about everything, I mean, it does have a new paint job and engine now and it does run/look 100% better, guess I got a little ripped as I had tried so hard to keep the new paint from getting messed up and it just seems no matter what I do something always happens to screw things up. Who knows, maybe that chip is my fault anyway. I'm still going to go through and do some more stuff to the car, I'm just not going to try and throw something together last minute just to make this one show, just not worth it to put something in there like that, man do i miss my subs though, even with the added weight I really like how they bring the blose to life.

The engine mounts worked great for me. I don't have that V8 shake now which was starting to freak me out before I had them replaced.

probably a stupid question and I'm too lazy to search, but are there aftermarket ones out there and how hard is it to swap them out? I'm assuming the car needs to be jacked up, then another jack underneath the engine and then done, but it's probably more complicated than that.

Canary that really does suck. If it helps I won't go to the car show this year. I'll spend my cash somewhere else. As far as replacing the engine mounts, I'm going to say its challenging. I haven't done the mount swap on the 8 just on other rides but basically you just jack up the car, loosen the mounts, jack the engine to where you have enough clearance then swap the new mounts in. Its about maybe a 1hr job or so.

hmmm, well maybe down the road a bit I'll splurge on something beefy and just take it somewhere, sounds like too big a job for me to handle and even with help it'd be a huge pita anyway. Any thoughts on the Mazsport cooling mod? Now that I have the new block etc. I was seriously thinking about getting it.

kickass! so dinner is on you or?

Actually, would anyone be interested in checking out the transformers flick sunday? Having serious thoughts about going to see it, either by myself or whatever, feel free to post or pm and maybe we could get an ATX style caravan or something...that is...if I'm not the only person left who hasn't already seen it lol

yeah, just seems like that movie would rock with the whole big screen/sound etc., I think it;s even playing at the alamo which is way less painful than your regular theater.
